Hey everyone
For the record Noe has been impeccably behaved today, and listened sensibly to those of us who spoke to her last night. She also wasn"t alone in having a few last night, several people caused us problems in ways we haven"t seen at APATs before last night
There"s a time and a place to discuss issues like this (eg there is a thread elsewhere entitled "beer and poker" on these boards started this afternoon) but lets concentrate on the poker for now please
-
If anyone can do it Postman Pat can.......
ah :as: Ship it......
-
Knew he had a chance........ when I couldn"t get a seat !! ;D
-
Unlucky Jack, good run matey.
-
i said behaviour, not attitude, and im talking about noe
I hope this isn"t a reference to her liking a drink. Loads of the guys get p*ssed and rowdy and I never see any comment about that other than a quiet sort of admiration. She paid her money same as everyone else and as long as she isn"t abusive (which I have never seen her be - she is one of the jolliest players around) she can do what she likes imo.
-
Harry Briggs has doubled through Alan Hursburgh
Tod Wood wins a gi-normous 230,000 pot off JP Round with flopped trip Jacks versus JP"s unseen hand
-
How"s Brian doing now?
-
What a strange comment to make. We would be interested to know why you feel that way. Not on this thread obviously, as its not the place to air grievances.
Anyway.....
Good luck Noe..... Take it down girl!!!! Your mates in Bristol, Bath and Frome love ya!!!! :-*

There"s a time and a place to discuss issues like this (eg there is a thread elsewhere entitled "beer and poker" on these boards started this afternoon) but lets concentrate on the poker for now please
Guys please, not on this thread
take it elsewhere
lol i had her allin with kj me aq b4 first break she called me a donk wanderd off came back laffed at me wot a joke she is still in terrible behavior
-
take it to the beer n poker thread Tony

- Over the last 2 days he has picked up numberous nicknames including Scooby and Sticky

VWP Alan.
Just back home - SirPerc FTW!
-
Harry Briggs has doubled through Alan Hursburgh
Tod Wood wins a gi-normous 230,000 pot off JP Round with flopped trip Jacks versus JP"s unseen hand
Tod Wood and Alan Armitage get their stacks in pre flop
Tod has Kings
Alan AQ suited
board 7658J
Tod won a monster pot, and Alan has about 15,000 left now so in huge trouble
I think the lesson here is..... don"t get involved in monster / ginormous pots with Tod
-
Any chance of a rough count of chippage and positions? Just wondering how many blinds people have left and how crapshooty it is yet? And how long before Noe picks up the trophy of course.
-
VWP Alan.
Just back home - SirPerc FTW!
+1 again, and well played Neil, unlucky mate
-
So now Steve raises and Noe re-raises all in in the blinds
back to Steve who says "do you have Aces again?" entirely reasonably
He ponders, gazes at his navel, the ceiling, tikay"s highlights and his chips
the re-raise is 190,000 so about half Steve"s stack
Big decision.
Steve chunters and says "I just can"t call" and passes
-
What"s the weather like there? Would a journey from Bristol to Walsall and back right now, be a little erm... foolhardy?

Ha, me and Drago and going to drive up to Walsall now lol :)
Hope to arrive in time to get the champers in!! :) eeeeek.

Steve Redfern 390,000
Brian Martin 140,000
Noe Aces 320,000

Well played Al, back to the Shay now.
-
Some points about Jono Crute as we were on the same table from 4pm yesterday until I busted out at 6.30pm today
- He was down to 275 chips around level 5
- We suspect he could be the youngest APAT winner ever at 15 (just kidding -18 years and a few months)
- Over the last 2 days he has picked up numberous nicknames including Scooby and Sticky
- He needs a haircut :D
Good luck kid (and If that sounds patronising I am twice his age ;D)
I was sat next to him when he had the 275 (75 ante) and he trebbled up twice in a row, hes a good lad and i hope he takes it down, played his short stack very well indeed!!!
Deffo needs a haircut tho
-
hahahaha Noe Aces :D

with those blinds and ante"s it"ll be all over in an hour....

Brian Martin wins by pushing in pre flop
then Noe wins a pot pushing on the flop when checked to
This is more like it. Most aggressive player should get in a position to win this with blinds this large.

Help, please
This is Tighty"s sub-conscious speaking
Help, he"s losing it. There has been another walk to the big blind
-
Jono A10, reraises all in after

Next song alert
I"m sorry, its nearly midnight and there are only so many times I can report "Steve raises, all fold"
Anyway the next song is Keane "Everything Changes". Saw them in concert once too. Surprisingly good. For Southerners.

Birmingham accents. How long do you reckon I need to be exposed to one before I start sounding like Hartley the Hare from Pipkins?
In other words, how long have I got for this competition to end?

I had tickets to see them in Bristol, judt as they were getting famous, but they cancelled a week before the show :-( gits.

Noe Aces 300,000
TodWood Woodward 800,000
Stuart Oliver 100,000
back after a short break at 25-50,000/2,000. Don"t think I"ve seen many UK competitions get this far into a blind structure....
-
It is not just the accents, it is the words they say... eg... "hey mate, are you coming for a beer?"... Brummie respose.. "Yes we am"... Normal person response.. "Yes I am".. Whats that all about..!!! or... "Yes I are".. I am serious lol..

Residents of Birmingham (Brummies) meanwhile often refer to their Black Country neighbours as "Yam Yams", a reference to the use of "Yow am" ( or yow"m) instead of "You are", and not because they say i yam instead of I am, in fact the phrase om is often used instead of I am in the area. Dudley residents often refer to the people of Birmingham as "Dummy Brummies". Also, the town of Walsall can be pronounced either War-sall or Wor-sull, with a strong Walsall accent considered to be typical "yam-yam."

Ok Stuart, time to take it down (http://i513.photobucket.com/albums/t337/HaworthBantam/Scotland2.gif)
Heres hoping, u have a great weekend Chrissy? Gutted i missed it
Yeah Grant was a good one, little sick how I lost my stack but my own fault for not paying attention (was held to a raise when I tried to steal blinds & antes not realising someone was all in already - I had 67 offsuit on the button). Great weekend though, woulda been good if a few more were down (never realised Neil was down until I was already out late last night). Don"t know if I can make Welsh but definitely in for Ireland and Worlds! You planning on playing any this seasonn?
-
keep it goin big steveeeeeeeee bcpc da nuts

Maybe, but another set of players on the final table and this could have been over by now
One tournament isn"t enough to know whether it"s the structure or the players.

Just arrived home. Structure may need a little tweaking ;)
Well done to Steve who will be a great APAT Champion, and to everyone who made the final table and the money.
Special thanks to our guest update support team of Leigh Wiltshire and James Edwards who worked their socks off.
Finally, there is only one Tighty and Tikay. Those two contribute so much time and effort for amateur poker for absolutely nothing. Legends, huge thanks to both.

Slight correction needed here :) Tod made standard raise and I shoved with suited conns - he called with KQ..... subtly different complexion to the play :)

Just want to say well done again to Steve (and indeed the rest of the final table). I"ll have nightmares about that runner-runner straight for a while yet, but I had my fair share of luck on the way so can"t complain too much.
It was a brilliant weekend - so much thanks and appreciation to Des and the team. My everlasting memory will be of TK starting the final table commentary standing up and being very enthusiastic, and then 4 hours later slumped in the chair, mumbling that perhaps someone had raised, generally looking pretty forlorn... ;D ;D Great professionalism to keep going though.
Cheers, Tod

My everlasting memory will be of TK starting the final table commentary standing up and being very enthusiastic, and then 4 hours later slumped in the chair, mumbling that perhaps someone had raised, generally looking pretty forlorn... ;D ;D Great professionalism to keep going though.
Cheers, Tod
WP Tod - Glad you got some use from that "ginormous pot" you took against me - Hope to see you in Cardiff!

Wow, what a marathon!! Well done all on reaching the FT, and well done to the top 3. Great effort by tighty, keeping us all involved.
-
Great win Steve
Really glad an Englishman won it.
-
Congratulations Steve.
Thankyou APATfor a fantastic event!
See you in Cardiff
-
well played all and congrats steve!
-
Congratulations Steve and wp to all who cashed.
-
Just read through the 50 pages of updates - which took almost as long as the final table. ;)
Overwhelmed by the amount of support - thanks guys.
Very well played Steve. We should have just handed you the trophy at the start of Day1 but then again that wouldn"t have been as much fun would it!
I can"t quite describe my emotions right now - Really pleased to have reached FT and at one stage with 4 left I was at 3 BB and was praying for 3rd. Funny though "cos as soon as I had some chips again 1st was the only option. So really disappointed but on the other hand really pleased it has gone to a worthy winner.
As always a huge thanks goes to the APAT team (and the extented team) for yet other fantastic weekend. 53 sleeps "till Cardiff. ;D

Well played, well deserved and fantastic result Steve (even though you did hammer my BB most orbits!), well played and well done for escaping our table of death with Jerri the dealer bless her... what were the odds on Aces again?? haha.
Gutted about bubbling in 26th but over the moon for fellow Stockton lad Stu Ward getting 15th :) See you all in Wales...

Something like 48000/1 I think I remember I really enjoyed that table suppose that is part of the reason why I kept hanging on

Congrats Steve, a very deserving champion!
VWP Tod on 2nd and Silver.
Thanks to Des, Rich and Tikay for another fantastic weekend and a BIG BIG thank you to Lou n Mike Saban whose hospitality this weekend was superb, I had a gr8 time.
+1

Thanks to all at APAT for a great two days. If I was offered 6th before start of play I would have taken it so I should be happy I guess but a few too many bluffs before the final table cost me my chance.
Well done to Steve on the win well deserved from what I could see and well done to all the other finalists a good bunch of people and tough to play against.
See you all again soon
Brian
PS Those questioning the structure, please dont tweak it, give it another chance. I think it was spot on. The super super tight play around the bubble didn"t help and then the 2 hour break before the final table certainly didn"t help.

Very briefly, may post more later.
Well done to all those that cashed, final tabled, medalled (especially Stuart, long time overdue mate), and obviously to Steve and Tod for an excellent heads up. Fairly short, but I think most of the poker battling had been done in the hours previous.
Congrats on the win Steve, thoroughly deserved.
Overall, I thought the weekend was excellent and I have learned a few things.
1. Never get involved in a pot with Linda Iwaniak. I am going to lose. Simple.
2. The correct etiquette whilst playing a friendly Sit n Go in the hotel after day one is :-
When in the Small Blind and your mate string bets on the button, call for a ruling, it becomes a min raise and call it.
When the flop comes 7 7 3, claim for the flop to have hit you in the face, then check to allow him to shove all-in with his pocket sixes.
Then, and only then, can you flip over 7 3, and the laughter can start around the table. You must allow for the pocket sixes player to repeatedly mumble about how can you call a string bet ffs. ;D
3. Steve Redfern"s win has been dedicated to Daniel "Kinboshi" Phillips. Apparentely, when Steve joined APAT, one of the first posts he read was Daniel"s trip to the EPT in Copenhagen after winning some event in season one, that shouldn"t really count now ;D. On reading this thread, Steve said to himself, I want to do that. And now, two years on, he has, and although Daniel thoroughly enoyed his long weekend in the glorious city of Copenhagen, I am sure Steve will find Luton most adequate. As I pointed out to him at 2 o"clock this morning. Sorry Steve, I wasn"t very subtle. ;D
4. Professional jousting is live and well in Kilmarnock.
I may add more at some point. Well done all.
Leigh

For info, all of the pictures from Walsall will be up later on this evening, as will the tournament report.
If time allows, the video interviews will start to be posted from this evening also.
The majority of the interviews were done by the Sky team and I will publish them in full over the weekend.
The TV report from the event will be broadcast on the Sky Poker Channel: 865 on Thursday at 8.30pm and repeated on Saturday evening at the same time.

Top Job Steve my Boy, bloody well done, shows on what forum the real players discuss strategies....... 8)
-
This result leads me to believe that the "Praetorians" will have a damn fine year in 2009....
-
Congratulations to all, sounds like it was another SUPERB Tourney(weekend).
Well done to all that made day2, In the money, Final tablist"s and the Top three.
Great battle between the top four, Noe vul. Stuart excellent result and You Todd.
Massive congrats to Steve, very well played mate. You have been knocking on the door for a while, and now it has opened. Nice one. Thanks for the updates Rich, Des and TK and all else who helped with running etc.
Roll on Cardiff :) APAT rules ;D

Well - just about recovered from the last 2 nights of hitting "refresh" every couple of minutes. What brilliant reporting of the event - I take my hat off to all who had a hand in it - and the banter from all APATers was just as good!
Congratulations to all who cashed and particularly of course to Stuart, Todd and Steve.
Looking forward to Cardiff (hopefully!)
Peter

Hi all Jono here I"m just running for a flight but a quick word to say thanks to APAT for the brilliant weekend. Structure was class and the only reason I was able to come from so short to FT. Cheers also to the people on here who posted about me, nice to hear a few good things said (Although clearly I disagree about the hair).
wp to everyone who cashed and I was very impressed with a lot of players. I"ll be back for Cardiff, who"s the youngest ever champion?
Jono/Sticky/Scooby?!

(Although clearly I disagree about the hair).
Think I"ll keep quiet on this one.

Just arrived back in Ayr from the weekend (stayed at mate"s in manchester last night, roads not that bad :D and wanted to reiterate all that has been said on this post already. Weekend was absoutely fantastic, camaraderie, banter and even the poker was brilliant. As always, superbly organised and a massive thank you to the whole team. Was great to properly meet so many Apaters and special thanks to my original table, Daniel "I"m his biggest fan you know" Kinboshi, Pilf, Rob and Alan for a cracking 6 hours before we were dispersed round the casino on Saturday night. Poker certainly played second fiddle for a while. After going so short early on sat, amazed and delighted to have made the final table. Disappointed to go out so early but with the blinds at 1 million, 2 million (bloody felt like that ;D had to push with something and knew I was well behind when the "call" came behind me. Congrats to all the finalists and of course especially to Steve. Cheers to the other Scots, well done Stuart on 3rd. This is starting to sound like an oscar speech (mental note, only came 9th, calm down Alan!)Thanks again for everyone involved, played 2 Apat"s before but this weekend summed up superbly for me why so many people fight for those clickfests. Been a while since I had so much enjoyment from £75 (anybody else been to Amsterdam ;D Please note I have never actually been to Amsterdam and that was for comic value (missus may read this ;D
Cheers again all.

Alan !! Didn"t realise that it was "the nice young man", as Caz called you last year, that final tabled and finished 9th. :D
Well done fella !

No Ian, when Caz said "nice young man" she was refering to ME.
wp Alan - I"m sure there are about 195 players who would swap you for 9th.
-
Congratulations Steve vwp indeed.
I made time out to have a chat with Steve at the first break, forum names to faces
thing, have to say, top bloke and after his central league win prior to winning this, its as good as it gets me thinks to back to back APAT wins.Superb performance.
Mind you, after I had ribbed him a bit regarding no medals been allocated to league game wins,I did say the Birmingham poker club would have a wip round to purchase one to acknowledge his achievement............His reply??
"No need, I"m going to win this!" ....Many a true word said in jest ;)
Big up to Todd for making it a Brummie one two,and well played Sir percival.

Congrats Alan, I was delighted to hear you made the FT! Gutted I didn"t witness it first hand but weather WAS bad here last night and an early departure was the right decision.
Hope to see you in Cardiff. Will PM you soon about travel.

JP Round knocks out Dean Plumley KK v er, 86
23 LEFT
I was on the button and with a 45k stack. Blinds meant all in steal was worth it as only had to avoid AA, KK, QQ which would make me a big dog. Unfortunately KK was in BB. Dean (Mr PokerBits) Plumley

Ha ha, thanks Ian and to Caz. "Nice young man" is certainly one of the nicer posts on here at the moment! Had a fantastic weekend and final table just capped it superbly. Was disappointed not to see you and Caz there though. Hopefully see you later in the season. Take care, Alan

Thanks Mark, pleasure playing beside you on Sat and Sunday too. The good poker was just a bonus on top of the cracking banter going on (well at our table at least ;) Congrats to you too for getting so deep and remember, nothing wrong with that shove, better than Ace Rag. I pushed with that type of hand a good few times, just didn"t get called ;) Take care mate and hopefully see you soon
