A quick summary of the satellites.  They will run for the next two weeks.

You are playing for a $400 package ($120 seat + $280 towards travel expenses)

If you wish to buy-in direct for this event, you only need to pay the $120.  This will be available from 9pm on Thursday 15th April 2010.

Mondays - $20 Freezeout
Tuesdays - $10 Rebuy
Wednesdays - $50 Super Satellite Freezeout

Also on Mondays and Tuesday we are running $5 feeder satellites into Wednesdays Super Satellite.

OK...next question (previous one deleted).

In the unlikely event that this sells out the 100 allocation on the 15th...are the satellites the next week for "additional" seats?

Oh...and I don"t say this to a lot of guys...nice package!

We have flexibility there.  Tighty is in constant communication with the venue, to ensure we get the right balance for seats.  Betfair will also be promoting this, so it should be a great mix of UK APATers, Betfair Players and locals for the weekend.

The seats available for the second week of satellites will be good, even if we fill the allocation from the direct buyin.

Betfair will also be promoting this, so it should be a great mix of UK APAT fish, Betfair superfish and local superaggro euromonkeys for the weekend.

I am sure many of us are unsure whether or not they can make the event in Vienna, but would like to take a punt at the satellites. If you blag a seat and then can"t go, does your Betfair account get credited with the monetry equivalent?

Mike,

Obviously you"ll get the $280 worth of expenses back into your account.  You would have to put the seat on the seat exchange board as Betfair doesn"t allow you to unregister from a tourney you have registered for through a satellite.

So, it"s a bit of both.

Good luck.

Firstly, everyone has a right to play the satellites. So the short answer is "Yes"

With that said, from a personal standpoint, I"d rather that players NOT use the satellites as a money-making opportunity.

I appreciate that there genuine cases of uncertainty but I booked the time off months ago just in case I get a seat. I"d hate to find out that I, now cannot get a seat because someone won a satellite with little or no intention of going to Vienna. This is especially true when the "seat" also includes something towards expenses.

Seriously, if you think you have a good chance of making it, fair enough, go ahead and play. If you"re really just in it to make some extra cash, I"d ask (purely on my own behalf) that you find somewhere else.

Hey, just my opinion, others will, undoubtedly differ.

I agree with Paul on this one.  Those looking at soft satellite cash action should be put off by the -ev of having to then sell the seat on the seat exchange, so I doubt it will attract those players.

Mike"s point is a fair one though, and I hope we have put on enough of a mixture of satellite buyins for everyone to feel they could give it a go at joining us in Vienna for what will be another great APAT weekend. *

Leigh

*  I can guarantee it will be a great APAT weekend, because I know The Duke has already booked his flights and hotel, so merriment is guaranteed.   ;D

Just to clarify the holding tank situation for this event.

There will be two holding tanks.

The $400 one is for all satellite qualifiers.

The $120 one is for all direct buyin and will go live at 9pm on Thursday 15th April 2010.

Good luck to everyone looking to get a seat.

12 Players in tonights $20 freezeout.

A $240 prizepool, winner takes all.  The winner will definitely be able to get a seat for Vienna, so effectively it"s 1 Seat + $120 expenses.

Good luck.

I was under the impression that the tourney wouldn"t run without at least $400 in the prizepool, but that obviously wasn"t the case.

In my opinion, as long as it achieves $120 to cover a seat, I would rather they took place than have a dozen or so players disappointed at it being cancelled, with the cash going to the winner who can then make a choice on what they do.

I can go back to Betfair to get this adjusted if there is a strong opinion to the contrary.

This is how it works.

If the prizepool doesn"t make $400 (Very unlikely, as it is a rebuy, and The Duke is playing), as long as it is above $120, the winner will be guaranteed the chance to buy a seat if they wish to do so.

Don Logan won $240 last night (Not that he has seen this money yet), so it is treated as a seat + $120 effectively.

Rather that way, than the satellite gets cancelled.

Hopefully, word will have spread a bit more and numbers will be okay.

We are running exactly the same schedule next week, so if you can"t play the satellites this week, you"ll have a second chance. (You could even buyin direct on Thursday to guarantee a seat, and still try and qualify for a package next week)

Hi there everybody. First things first, im new to the site as of today and was impressed so much by everything about it i decided to take an interest in the austria tournament and did a bit of number crunching whether my student loan can cover the costs.

Ten minutes later, i decided to purchase flights to vienna for the tournament and now im just waiting for the holding tournament to come up to register into. So within the matters of 18 minutes i managed to find this website and book a weekend in Austria because of that....

So basically, i have made an impulse decision on playing the tournament and this will be my first live tournament outside of my local casino, just wondering if any of you veterans of the circuit could give me some words of advice about the structure of the tournament, etiquette etc and basically what to expect from the experience. And more specifically, where to book a hotel? What discounts are there with laterooms?

Any advice will be much appreciated and if you see a very lost looking twenty year old in the middle of vienna, please come over and guide me in the right direction!  ;D

Thanks,

James

OK thanks for your reply, all really useful stuff. Will get looking around for hotels but like the idea of knowing exactly what you get with Holiday Inn.

All sounds very exciting and look forward to meeting some of you there!

Taxi from the Vienna Airport...I found this...C&K Airport Taxis (http://www.ck-airportservice.at/web/ck/uk/rubrik5_id26.html)

Once we know whose staying where and arriving when, I"m sure we can arrange a meet-up at the Arrivals lounge and split the cost.

In the light of recent developments, where Iceland farts a cloud of dust and all flights in and out of the UK are affected, I have been researching alternative ways of travelling to Vienna.

A leading Volcanist (a disciple of Mr Spock maybe) predicts that this will be spewing on and off for the next two years.

So, if the worst comes to the worst, it's either road or rail. Rail is the preferred way as I can relax with a bevy or two.  Not bad at all.

London (St Pancreas)
|
Brussels (Midi)
|
Cologne
|
Vienna

London-Brussels - £69 return (Eurostar to Brussels in 1hr 50 mins WOW)
Brussels-Cologne-Vienna £70.60 return (SparNight in a couchette compartment WTF)

Ok, I have opened my betfair account, deposited the cash, now am waiting for 2100!! Without wanting to appear thick, i can"t find a link on betfair for entering the Vienna gig, help please, how do you apply for the 100 direct buy in seats?
Title: Re: APAT Central European Championships in Vienna
Post by: Paulie_D on April 15, 2010, 19:28:00 PM
For those planning on buying in direct via Betfair"s POKER software you might wish to narrow your options to make the tank easier to find.

Select Tourney Lobby and All or Regular.

From your tickable options...untick EVERYTHING except HIGH and TURBO. That should leave only 5 listed of which 2 are APAT.

You want APAT Vienna Holding Tank #380877
Title: Re: APAT Central European Championships in Vienna
Post by: HOLDorFOLD on April 15, 2010, 20:34:28 PM

You could even buyin direct on Thursday to guarantee a seat, and still try and qualify for a package next week

If we direct buy in tonight, and manage to bink a sate next week though, I"m assuming one of the seats will have to be sold via the seat exchange?

If this is the case, what"s the demand likely to be for Vienna seats?  There"s a large capacity (300 I think was mentioned), so would it likely sell out?  Just wondering whether the demand would be there to buy seats for Vienna like other venues?

1. The holding tank is the $120 one and you will reg into that at 2100 tonight

2. If you bink a satellite next week you go into the $400 holding tank

3. Unreg from the $120 and get that back into you account

4. Simples

It"s two seperate holding tanks. The $400 one is for satellite winners, and you cannot unregister from that.  The $120 one is a seat only, and you should be able to unregister.

So, guarantee your seat tonight, and if you want to have a go at winning a package next week, you can do so.

Hendrik,

Welcome to APAT.  That is the correct holding tank for this event if you wish to enter via Betfair.

Alternatively, you can register direct with the casino.  Either option is good.

See you in Vienna,

Leigh

Hi guys,
Even if i"m living in Paris, for personal reasons i"m quite a reg of this casino.
To answer the dress code question, it"s pretty casual indeed / jean + t-shirt is good (clean is required  ;) )
It"s also good to know that it"s usually a smoking casino, but for this kind of events, it will be forbiden.
For guys who are busting early, juicy cash game tables are waiting for ya... (1-2 NL200 minimum)
If you have any questions about the casino or the nightlife in Vienna, feel free to ask !

And see ya all tomorow for the tournament...

(PS: the weather is awfull those days...dont forget the umbrella)

Disappointed NOT to be stuck in Vienna due to the ash cloud. The Concord has a lovely tourney planned for tonight with a pretty decent overlay guarantee.

Oh well, can"t have everything. I"ll post up some longer thoughts (probably) once I"m safely back in Chez_D with a decent cup of tea and a hob-nob!
