Title: Official World Cup 2010 Discussion Thread
Post by: noble1 on May 11, 2010, 17:53:28 PM
fwiw here is my vision of how the World Cup 2010 will turn out .. :)

Football utopia fast approaching as we anticipate breath taking football from the England boys and for them to sweep aside all challengers...The likes of Algeria,Slovenia and the USA in the group stages will wilt and surrender to Englands power .. On to the last 16 where we will play Ghana who more than likely will not bother turning up , so much in awe of the talent of the lions from England , the mighty roar of victory at full time will be heard worldwide as England march on imperiously to the Quarter-Finals. The frogs will be waiting at this stage , the stench of garlic and onions almost overwhelming to our boys [those dirty cheating frogs] , Capello will have nasal plugs ready for our boys though , prehaps a cunning plan to send and bombard the froggie tw#ts with under age prostitutes will tip this tie massively in our favour..
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/2010/03/06/2010-03-06_officials_warn_that_40000_prostitutes_could_enter_south_africa_for_2010_world_cu.html
Holland await in the semi-finals , the clog army eager for revenge of the euro96 embarrassment that they had to endure losing to a team with players called Donkey Adams , sick note Darren Anderton plus we had a Psycho and a geordie idiot who wore fake boobies.. But all will be in vain as our mighty striker SPUD head Rooney will score a brace and a giant beanstalk robot called Crouch will humiliate the tango wa#k#rs with a hat-trick...

Final fever , our years of waiting to put those cheating hand ball diving foreigners in there rightful place , yes we invented football , do not forget it you bleep bleep t##ts , we are the MIGHTY ENGLAND.. yesssss we meet zeee germans , and yet again herr fritz will be over confident .. The boxheads will not know what has hit them as Capello unleashes his secret weapons upfront , yesss Darren Bent and Emile Heskey , Rooney on the bench , hahahaha zeee germans would never expect that , a masterstroke by Capello , sheer genius , 2 CLOWNS upfront , zeee germans for the whole 90 minutes are so busy pissing themselves they forget to defend against Gerrard and Lampard , a goal a piece and the World Cup is coming home...

That is how the World Cup will be won APAT...

disclaimer - i have not in any way sniffed glue , nor have i consulted with mystic meg...

Well, I have just had a small wager with one of my clients who was insistent that a smaller country would win the World Cup.

So I have the eight seeded teams ( 8 ) :-  Spain, Italy, Brazil, England, Netherlands, Argentina, Germany, South Africa

He has all the rest ( 24 ) :- France, Portugal, USA, Serbia, North Korea, Australia, Mexico, Uruguay, Greece, Nigeria, South Korea, Algeria, Slovenia, Ghana, Cameroon, Denmark, Japan, New Zealand, Paraguay, Slovakia, Ivory Coast, Chile, Honduras, Switzerland

So, which side of the bet would you choose to take ?

Think tbh id take Scott Parker over Michael Carrick, just think he has more of an influence over games and would prob take dawson over Upson but could go either way on that one.

I"m sorry, i read "official" LMFAO
This is funny oh Noble1 kinobi, you don"t have Maroon5 erm the Claret trio playing this time you know.
No seriously, i wouldn"t say this was the best England squad ever assembled. However it is hard to say any Country stands out by a mile. England do have a glut of possible match winners amongst them, my fear though is that all too familiar over self belief once they win a few matches. If they take every game the same and give each country the full respect that they each deserve England could very well go onto win this one.
If Messi and Tevez can play as part of the same team(seems Tevez does not have TEAM in his vocabulary though) then obviously they can do some damage. Not sure about their defence, if like Man City they would play like the old Spurs under Ossie and lose in 5-4 spectacles. :)
Is Gomez in the Brazil squad? If so he is worth a 2 goal lead for every game at the moment.
No other thought i need to study for this coming week and work some betting out.

http://www.capelloindex.com/site/news.aspx

going by the capello index the team will be -

goalkeeper - errr hmmmmm [is Gordon Banks still alive?]
centre back - Ledley King [stats from a total 4 matches :)]
centre back - Les Michael Dawson
centre back - Sol Campbell [better than John Terry?]
midfield - Steven Gerrard aka ABH GBH [DJ lover]
midfield - Frank Spencer Lampard [most of his goals come from the penalty spot]
midfield - Paul Scholes [teaching gingers how to score in Manchester since 1994]
midfield - Joe Cole [ex West HAMMER soon to be ex blue unless his knee pops again]
midfield - Aaron Lennon [great speed but plays like a headless chicken]
forward - Theo Walcott [svens love child , also see above]
forward - Jermaine Defoe [rumours have it that he spelt his name wrongly on his transfer request when trying to goto Portsmouth]
forward - errr hmmm wtf how on earth is Bendtner ahead of Rooney , please anyone? explain please.......

lol actually not a West Ham fan, just not convinced by Carrick, just dont notice him either tackling back or going forward admittedly in a team of excellent players, maybe thats Scott Parkers advantage that he shines in a team of mediocre players, doesnt really matter who go"s as they will only bit part anyways

meh last night made my mind up as to what i"d like the starting eleven to be...

my starting 11 [4141 formation]
GK Joe Hart - in-experienced but imho has come on tons this past year , and Green and James do not inspire me  :)
LB A.Cole
CB Ferdinand
CB Terry
RB G.Johnson
LM A.Johnson - again in-experienced but well worth taking a shot
CM L.King - in a holding role , if his knees give way then Barry can slot in
CM Lampard
CM Gerrard - please please Mr Capello don"t stick him out on the left..
RM A.Lennon
FW Rooney

Other opinions?

Baines / Warnock..Coin flip...both reserves and both crap.
SWP vs Walcott....My opinion big mistake...what does SWP do that theo can"t.
Bent vs Heskey....Pass!

But now what formation to start with..........If Barry is in....he must then prefer SG behind Rooney....which would be great..

James or Hart
Johnson / Terry / Rio / Cole (a)
Barry
Lennon / Lampard / Cole
Gerrard
Rooney

Quite the contrary, i think his selection shows that he is going to stick with 4-4-2. Taking too many strikers and not enough wingers. Quite obv that he is farming Gerrard on the left, poss just roaming while the real width will come from Lennon on the right. Crouch and Rooney up top. Still wouldn"t know who would be no1 yet. I would have taken Adam Johnson, purely for the left foot option SWP and Lennon are the same player for me. I still can"t believe nobody has worked out that Walcott is a striker and not a winger, he would terrorise defenders playing on the shoulder as he did at Southampton in his very young days.

All in all a very safe selection from Capello, going against what he said when he first came into the job, a few players there on reputation and club stature ( Carrick springs to mind ) rather than actual form.

A 1-11 would be rare.

I"m pretty sure Barry will start, if fit, in place of Cole (J).

If he isn"t fit then I agree with that team. I can see the media going to town on the whole "Lampard Gerrard" thing if this team doesn"t do well against the septics!!

England captain Rio Ferdinand will miss the World Cup after suffering ligmament damage to his left knee in the team"s first training session in South Africa.

The 31-year-old has been ruled out for up to six weeks and Tottenham centre-back Michael Dawson is to fly out later on Friday as his replacement.

well everything is going smoothly as usual lol , its great to have Les Dawson as the replacement ;D  just good ole Ledley to get crocked now and we have no more centre back reserves...

wowser it still bugs me thinking about Rob Green's howler , the media have had the usual knee jerk reaction , i"m just surprised no one has shouted for a recall of Gordon Banks or Peter Shilton.. What is it with our keepers? Green, Scott Carson, Paul Robinson, David Seaman, David James should all team up to do a utterly butterly "butter fingers" commercial imho... The press/media are not content with England as usual , so Fabio"s idea of announcing his team at the last minute is under attack , i had to laugh because they dont mention Alf Ramsey used the same approach...
What else has happened so far? the football is to round , the vuvuzela is annoying and zeee Germans played like Brazil [by far the biggest sickner imo] ... Not many goals so far and some pretty drab games but luckily Ascot is a saver to flick over to [came in handy during Slovakia/New Zealand and Portugal/Ivory Coast]
Brazil/North Korea was ok ish but only cos the commies played far better than was expected , so back North Korea to win the World Cup imo but only after the state broadcaster edits the footage.
England dont play again till Friday so if Emile Heskey manages to avoid crippling another key player whilst training, it'll be considered a successful World Cup for him imho, although to be fair to him in the USA game he almost crippled Howard , boy oh boy Heskey is soooo GOOD lol anyone else find it worrying that he was considered our best player?

NEWSFLASH - England players have been advised to protect themselves in training from Emile Heskey by disguising themselves as a goal..

England training ground rumour revealed - Rob Green has trained today and in 3 hours he had 4,000 shots fired at him and did not concede a single goal. Tomorrow, Green and Heskey will train with the rest of the squad.

I dont know where to begin....

before everyone starts going on about formation, tactics, gerrard on the left, heskey up front, 442, 433 etc blah blah blah....

Just remember that we played pretty much that side and formation for most of qualifying and everyone was lording it as a huge success after dispatching teams much superior to Algeria.

the "problem" goes much beyond tactics and selection......sadly this problem will only come to light once we are dumped out of the comp...so we can only speculate.

I fear that the management and their regimes and routines (whatever they are) are the root cause. Something has happened, that we don"t know about, that has caused disharmony in the camp. It would explain how the team was leaked...

There is a simple explanation as to why the results are "terrible", "unnacceptable" etc , etc.

The ability of the players does not match the expectations of the Nation.

Its a British thing,....... "if they aint British, they cant be very good",...... but mostly Hubris
