And we"re off...the biggest cheer being reserved for Arsenal"s equaliser.

No exits just yet, although an interesting hand came up between Peter Rodgers and Paul Garnham. Garnham had bet 750 after Rodgers checked an A-3-4 flop, only to see Peter raise to 3000. Paul tried everything he could to get a tell from Pete, asking him what he"d hit, whether it was a bluff, always intently studying Pete"s reaction. Pete was just sat there smiling. Eventually, Paul passed, saying "Go on then mate, show me A-4" whlst flashing the Kc. Pete just smirked, leant back, and mucked quietly.

Hammerheid: I"ll do my best to keep you updated :)

There are a lot of empty seats, as people are arriving late due to the accident on the M6 earlier. Thankfully, the new law now lets them play, they wil just be blinded out until they arrive.

And we have our first elimination...and it"s UGLY.

I only arrived at the end of the hand, but Bruce Shannon had got it all in on the turn of a 6s-2d-9s-Jc board, holding 9h-9d, and found one caller in a late Alan Horsburgh, who had just arrived after M6 trouble! Alan was holding Qc-Qh, and was looking for one of the remaining 2 queens. The dealer duly obliged, bringing out the Qs for the river, leaving Alan sheepish and Bruce sadly heading slowly for the rail.

The alternate rule has kicked in, so we still have 200 runners, Rich Stevenson first on the list to replace people who have been eliminated.

I hate to be a worry wart but despite numerous postings/e-mails I haven"t had confirmation that my place was cancelled.  Today I was still on the list.  Can you confirm I"m not on the starting list of 200?  Name: Judith Edwards

PS Can you pass a message to Dan Bradbury - "Good luck from the mother of the year?"

Post by: KarmaDope on November 03, 2007, 15:57:49 PM
Right, now the pics are uploaded lets see what"s happened...

Dave Fairhurst was able to pass bottom set to Dan Bradbury"s all in on the flop...a decision most people here have said they couldn"t make.

L Newport took a 10k pot from D Pearson when he flopped a set of 9"s against Pearson"s AQ on a Q-J-9 flop.

Anthony Curran just hit quad 6"s, but sadly didn"t gain much from it.

The action is really slow, we"ve just started Level 3 and still only one elimination. Sadly for the people on the alternates list, they won"t be getting a game as it is now too late. Cash tables for them we guess!!

Some chip counts:

Paul Garnham - 11k
Jon Spinks - 15k
Dean Pearson (we think) - 5.3k
Ken Jude - 10.2k
Steve Talbot - 10.2k
Duncan Hodgkins (we think) - 11k
Daniel "Kinboshi" Phillips - 12k
Stevie Hill - 7k
Mary Martin - 6k
Chris Baker - 7.8k
Kevin Shutt - 10.3k
Gordon McArthur - 12k
Adam Walley - 12.5k

Peter Rodgers, Andy Kingan and Mark Taylor are all OUT.

Peter Nicolle and Danny Ball are OUT.

James McNamee doubled through Aaron Sargent, when he pushed all in preflop over the top of Aaron"s raise. Aaron was left with 1k to call and did, flipping 9-9 to James" A-K. The K was the first card out, followed by an Ace to seal the double up for James.

Suzanne: All the pics will be available after the event, but some will be posted on the forum today and tomorrow (when I learn how to do it!)

I appear to be cursed today...I haven"t seen one exit at all, the sound of clapping alerting me to every one of them so far.

Steve Baltrop, Steve Rammond, Robert Swindells, Gary Graham and Alex Gabriel are OUT.

When I arrived at table 7, Adrian Royle found himself in a betting war with D Langmaid on a 10-9-8-4-9 board. After the dust had settled, both men were laughing as they had the same hand for the flopped straight, Q-Jos.

I will try and get some chip counts at the break for you guys who have signed up to the forum and asked for specific players. A full chip count will be up after level 7.

Good to see Mark Strahan near the top of the chip list again.   Not out 1st this time eh?

Under 3k - Nearly matches his book sales....:)

Mark Strahan has just tripled up, on a 5-4-3 board he saw Michael Bodman bet 700 and Jayne Cowland call. Mark pushed all in for 2125, and was rewarded when both players called. Mike and Jayne checked down the 2 turn and 7 river, Jayne flipping 9-9 and Mike showing A-3 for the bottom straight. Mark flipped J-6 for the top straight and raked in the pot, very enthusiastically.

Mike Scothern pushed all in from UTG+1 and took the blinds and antes. Very next hand he did it again, and Carl Lybert made the call. Mike flipped J-J to Carl"s A-9. The board brought an Ace, a nine, and a Jack, and Mike doubled up to 4k.

Message for Alex HM: He"s out. ;)

Mike Saban is also OUT.

Sometimes we have problems. Each player is assigned an ID number, which they are supposed to carry with them at all times, and leave with their chips at the break. If there"s no card, then we assume that hes been sat there since the start, and take that name instead.

69 players left, Average chips is 29k

Darren Webb, Steven Fleming, David Morgan, Paul Garnham and Kevin Watson are all OUT.

Alan Lake is on 42k.
Mark Strahan - 50k (ish)
Alan Armitage - 70k

22 left, and there"s 20 minutes left on the clock.

Carl Walker has been eliminated in 23rd by Jon Spinks, A-J vs 10-10, the tens held.

And we"re in the money! Sadly, the gentleman who was eliminated in 22nd has left the building with his number, and nobody knew who he was. So we don"t have a name! We think it"s Neil though.

The next person out will receive 75 quid...and that is Ralph "Karabiner" Stanson, eliminated in 21st.

We"re done for the day. Chip counts will be up when we get them. See you all tomorrow for the final day!

That bloody Rob Swindells getting knocked out early, eh? I dare say he played it perfectly :)

Any chance you can keep us updated on Tony "One Leg" Curran, please? Quads, nice.

Far from perfect burkey.......flopped a set in BB. played it far too cute and let guy catch up to make a straight. I was gutted because I always come out firing here. I know I"m not good enough to lay monsters down so why did I slow play??

Well done to the guy who busted me.

Thanks to APAT for another memorable (but brief) experience. Cant wait for the next one in manc.

As for this one I"ll be rooting for "Tankman" Dan. He probably doesn"t know me, but I"ve played on his table a couple of times in the past. good player. TID!!

A big thanks again to the APAT team for another great event. Really enjoyed the day for the poker and the banter. Nice to see some die hard APAT"ers as well as many new faces.

For those that know the Dublin story  - Ian, for the first time, outlasted Cazz!!! I even heard he managed to outlast the guy that never turned up and was blinded out just after the dinner break. (Of course my last longest bet held up and I look forward to collecting on that one  ;D)

Thanks for the support from Mrs Sir_Percival, GrannyO, Jacklevel and Nosey. Much appreciated. :)

Special thanks to "tracey tracey" for not scratching my new car as promised  ;)

Good luck to all who made it to Day 2

Well what a day, a 2 and half hour drive that turned out to be 5!! Got there an hour late to find big Carl and Kinbo on my table and felt like I was playing catch up all day. Never got above my starting stack before crashing out at about 9 oclock when an allin push with Jacks met Queens. Oh well at least the motorway will be clear at this time of night. Oh no another accident another car park on the M6, 2and half hour drive became 4!!!
But the tourney was well run, the buffet good, and some good folk, well done Des and the team, hope to see you all in Manchester.

Another cracker from Des, Richard & the rest of the APAT Team.

Grosvenor Walsall also did us proud, especially Denny the TD(?) who kept everyone moving in the right direction.

BTW...anyone know what time the Casino opens Sunday?

Well what can you say another great success (apart from my poker). Great  to finally put some faces to names. Sir Percival, Duncthehat, Dingdell, Andrew T,  Rio Rodent, Paulie D and many others that I"ve probably forgotten (sorry).
Good luck to the final 20 and hope to see all of you again in the near future.

Great updates fellas. Thanks for another great day Des, Rich and the absent TK. I was disappointed never to get far above my starting stack despite a string of premium hands - just goes to prove the saying "there"s no such thing as good cards, just good situations".

Fellow blonde David Jones (LeKnave) administered the coup de grace when he met my AKos UTG short-stacked push with AA.

Good luck to everyone left in but especially Rich Offless, Darren Shallis, Andrew Tracey, Steve Talbot & Jon Spinks. Although it"s probably academic as Des" son Brendan will almost certainly take it down  ::)

Yes good luck to those still in and especially all blones ( ??? )..

It was a good day, found myself batling hard all day, winning a couple of races, and nearly having my Aces cracked only for the one outed on the river to give me the higher set..
Nice to meet a load of new faces, and will be keeping an eye on today..

I"d like to add my thanks to all who helped organise the day. I was chuffed not to be out first and somehow rode my way to 31st. I had plenty of fortune along the way, such as when my 85 crushed AK and every blag seemed to work for me. I guess I was storing up the karma for when I looked down at the second of my back to back cowboys and decided to reraise the bigstack but unfortunately he held the rockets.

Good luck to Tankman Dan - bring the trophy back to the southwest meetup group k, plz, thanks.

And we"re in the money! Sadly, the gentleman who was eliminated in 22nd has left the building with his number, and nobody knew who he was. So we don"t have a name! We think it"s Neil though.

LOL. the gentleman eliminated 22nd was indeed the young, talented Neil Shellard. Having read somewhere that aggressive play around bubble time pays dividends, decided to make several grandstand plays running pocket sevens into kings and a-j into a-k. Unfortunately the best hand held up on both occasions leaving him feeling like something very sharp and pointy had been inserted into him, hence the dissappearing act.
