Title: The Open 2010
Post by: lukybugur on July 11, 2010, 21:29:22 PM
Well, who"s your money on, (backing or laying for all you who take it more seriously)?

I"ve backed Justin Rose and the 4 Irishmen on Betfair ...

Justin Rose 24/1
Rory McIlroy 18/1
Padraig Harrington 25/1
Graeme McDowell 35/1
Darren Clarke 120/1

One time .. 8)

This really is for a giggle as i dont really know much about golf....but i have gone for

harrington at 24-1
fisher at 49-1
jiminez at 139-1
angel cabrera at 99-1
lowry at 249-1
and ross magowan at 449-1

Did think Jiminez was a huge price, thats my big one!

Jiminez does seem good value at 139s.

Steve Stricker who"s on red-hot form just now is still available at 47/1 ... that should be worth a few £ at this early stage too. Will I ... hmmmm ?

Am holding off to see what the weather holds.  If the wind dies down i fancy Phil Mickelson or Paul Casey.  But if it looks like the wind will be there for the first couple days i will look for some value as it will be a totally different course.

i can comfirm that the weather looks dodgy from high up in the bean stalk , some silly goose has followed me down, think i"ll keep it,  hopefully i can have fresh eggs for breakfast during the open...

he may be struggling, but Tiger makes St Andrews look like a "pitch and putt" course. Will be lumping on him here

Given the driving rain, fog and 40mph winds, I think Tiger"s got more to be worried about than a putter. The change is OBV for the better ... all about being more confident "swinging" with the putter on slow greens.

He did have back-to-back three putts a fortnight ago though ...

Not too much of a struggle for Tiger with the new putter today. He had a couple of mis-read putts but who doesn"t?

To Noble1 : I wish I did work for Nike. I have to say though, I do like those new Nike putters myself. I"m in the market for one with a more solid feel - I want to upgrade my TaylorMade one to one of those new Ghosts (http://www.golfalot.com/Equipment/Reviews/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=6113) Justin Rose is using. £120 though ... hmmm

To MickyP : Nice choice with McIlroy ;)

i got this theory luky that if u can hit a golf ball 300 yards plus in a straight line then it would not matter if u used a hockey stick to putt with.. :)

Jiminez does seem good value at 139s.

Indeed...I got him at 150-1. He struggled on Day 1 but pulled out the stops on Day 2.

Now at 40-1...and might go lower once they confirm the cut.

I"m going to have to sell a piece and book a guaranteed profit.

Rory McIlroy STILL hasn"t shot a round in the 70s around the Old Course :D

yep the wooop wooop go go Rory was a tad premature :) 63  :) + 80 :"( , tbh i hope Darren Clarke wins it , he has had a great 2nd round upto now, yet to finish 3 holes but in the mix now..
As for tiger, who needs a putter? Luky u mentioned he had a couple of mis-reads whilst putting, how do u explain the 18th? should of got that easy imho ;) he was only 357 yards away..
