8 seater tables, yes?

So, presumably either 48 or 56 capacity?

If I recall correctly, DTD had us at 7 handed tables so perhaps 49?

I will ask

My aim is that the 7CS mirrors the APAT WCOAP 7CS. Limit. Will confirm when I can.

also capacity is 7x7. Apologies for my earlier approxiamtion, such lapses never get through!

Noted (& Hoodies)...OP updated.

Damn...there goes half my wardrobe.

Apologies if I jumped the gun anywhere but with the satellites only days away I thought it best to get the information out there.

Hmmm...that reminds me, must work on that structure I was going to suggest for S5.

Now, where"s that napkin? Scribble, scribble.....
Title: Re: APAT English Amateur Championship - Luton
Post by: Paulie_D on September 01, 2010, 17:16:23 PM
In fact, thinking about it...I don"t need to do much scribbling. We already have a perfectly workable structure...it"s the same as the HORSE! [/facepalm]

I took a look at it and the average "Completion" bet is c.55% of the "pre-flop". pot....seems right to me.

6K starting stack (as per the HORSE) with the same structure...no problem. In fact, it should go quicker than the HORSE because everyone has to ante and there are no split-pot sections.

JOB DONE!

From what I recall the tournament will take up most, if not all, of the Poker Room....I have no doubt that cash will spring up but once a few tables get cleared.

I"m sure I will be corrected from those who are more regular visitors.

Very deffo no trianers and no exceptions.  Well, apart from that one big crowd who were there lately.  But the G made a point of announcing (every few minutes) that their rules would go back to normal once the event was over.  It"s over = no trainers.

Cash games will be a tight squeeze at the start from what I remember too.  Not sure where they"d put an extra table for it, but Tighty might know of a secret hiding spot he can post about later.

yep they are quite strict. last year they wouldnt let me in with my crocs. however they do have a room full of shoes behind the reception so they swopped the crocs for a pair of black leather shoes. also told me to remove my beanie and i could put it back on only when i enter the poker room.

The Freeroll is for all playes that made Day 2 of the WCOAP Main Event at DTD last weekend.  It"s password protected, and any members found playing the event that shouldn"t be will forced to listen to Tighty"s YouTube music selections for a full 24hrs.

We had dialogue with Betfair last week, who assured us that the satellites and buyin would be up in the lobby for Monday.

I can"t chase them again until Monday morning, but they will be there in time for Monday 8pm.

Not sure why you would be debating between the league game and the satellites for a live event, as they are totally different things.

We are expecting Luton to be a very popular venue and event, so there may be a higher than normal number of runners in the satellites.

Although the satellites are a cheap route to an event seat, we normally find that players are more interested in using them to ensure they have a seat prior to the direct buyin on Thursday.

Hi.

Does anyone know what the starting stacks and blinds are going to be for this event?

I assume those showing on Betfair of 1500 chips and 12min blinds are incorrect, you"d be lucky to squeeze 2 days out of that!

Cheers

That"s $120 (£75) and yes, that"s the direct buy-in.

Does this open at 9pm. 1st come 1st serve "click-fest"?

It"s currently showing as max 100 players. We all know luton can take more than that so will the cap be fixed before 9pm or is 100 the intended max?

Also I have a ticket to the holding tank due to a satellite win but I"m not actually in the holding tank. Does this mean I have to clickfest my way in using the ticket?

I ask because Tighty suggested something similar for the WSOPE sat winners on Monday.

If ticket holders do have to clickfest in I doubt many of them know it and it would be pretty sick given that a satellite win should be a guaranteed seat ??? ??? ???

The cap for the event will be 150, and I am hoping Betfair will get the cap for the holding tank increased to 130 before tonight.  There"s a number of reasons for this, but the main one is detailed below :-

Due to the changeover of software at Betfair Poker, players that succesfully win a seat in an APAT satellite will earn a "ticket" into the target event.  The player will still need to buyin to the holding tank when it becomes live at 9pm.

We can"t get around this, but will ensure that should the holding tank fill prior to a satellite qualifier securing their seat, all satellite qualifiers will be entered into the target event.

Any problems, just pm me.

Hi,

You won an APAT English satellite but did not use the ticket you won to enter the event holding tank for the live event.

However, we have manually reserved one for you so when the remaining 35 seats go on sale tonight in the second holding tank you should not attempt to buy yourself in to it.

See you in Luton,

Good Morning

Logged onto my Betfair Account this morning and found it was up by £75.. what a start to the day i thought  ;D

However on checking my betfair statement :

2010-10-19
08:41 11632708246 2010-10-19
08:41
Poker Tournament Unregister (USD 120)   - - -   75.71

I hadnt even looged into poker to deregister :(  :o

Fearing my account had been hacked I logged into BetFair Poker only to see that the APAT English Holding tanks 100 +  30 (and the 3 in Pro) have all been cancelled?

Im presuming some admin error at Betfair"s side and everyone else will be the same.. BUT can someone clarify? Slightly worrying!!  ???

I would assume (he said carefully) that Betfair have to "cancel" these in order to release the money to the venue.

I got that call so I cancelled the booking with them and re-booked with the Icon Hotel; which is just down the road from them.

I"m hoping that"s not the one with the flooding now :-\

NB: a more cautious approach would probably to find an alternative before cancelling the Days, but the bloke on the phone from the Days annoyed me.

It fitted in with your description.

My first thought was that they"ve told the Days that they"ll pay something like £100 a night if the days take their guests, so the Days has bumped the people who"ve only paid £60 ish. But I also thought it was possible that they don"t want to tell guests not affected that there"s a problem as people might cancel if they think there"s going to be building work on flooded rooms.

Gonna phone the ICON see if they can guarantee I"m not going to get bumped to the Days.

I"ve just talked to the manager of the ICON hotel and she confirmed that they have no problems and no guests are getting moved to other hotels.

Obviously there"s a chance she"s lying, but all in all I"d say the Days Hotel really haven"t come out of this well.

This would have been the first time I"d stayed there. In every other event in Luton, they"ve not come out the cheapest and all their reviews are distinctly mediocre and average but I was going to give it a go this time - I"m pretty sure I"m not going to even consider them in future now.

Sleeping bag and change of clothes in the boot just in case......

FWIW...I"m seeing rates of between £29 and £39 per night for Friday & Saturday at the ICON through Hotels.com (http://www.hotels.com)

I paid for a BOGOF offer through last minute which worked out at roughly equivalent to that price. I"ll reserve judgement until I"ve actually stayed there - but it looks like quite a nice hotel.

driving home FTW!!  cheaper, less hassle, less chance of being moved to a new location, less chance of being flooded out!!

Sleeping bag and change of clothes in the boot just in case......

Can"t have a drink.... but hey that might help the poker!

And best of all, probably home in time for X-factor! (hmmmm perhaps a good reason to book a hotel after all then)

No idea but he obviously doesnt have a clue what is going on. The woman I spoke to said the flood happened on Monday and they are clearing the rooms up one by one but still a few out of order.

Not had a call yet Ger?  :D PS if the number starts 01582 dont answer it LOL

Are you sure they managed to find you a new room and they"re not just letting you put up with the one they were going to move you out of?

I suspect Ger talked to some clerk who made the mistake of using their initiative to avoid the potential of a guest cancelling, my guess anyway.

Just out of interest, are you guys all single occupancy? I get the feeling us billy no mates are getting picked on here.

yes I"m on my own.

They failed to ring me back so I rang them back (about 10 mins ago) and spoke to the nightshift who predictably were not able to tell me anything.....

In fact the lady"s word were

"I can not confirm whether you are staying with us or being moved to another hotel, because I may be wrong and dont want to get into trouble"

Anyone got a floor for me to crash on??

NellieG  is in her room at Days Inn ... no hassles  ...  however they said to her on arrival

" yes, you have an invalid room don"t you?"

She said "I know I"m old but I"m not an invalid yet"

hahahahahhahahahaha

Also, anyone checking in later ... there seems to be a wee problem with the debit card machine, so dn"t panic if your card is rejected or doesn"t go through ;-)

After all the problems with the Days (before and during the weekend from what I"ve heard), I"m happy to report that my cancelling it and rebooking a room at the ICON hotel was a great success.

Obviously I"ve only got the one stay there to base it on, but it certainly seems like a many many times better place to stay. The normal rate is only slightly higher than the Days and it"s easily worth the extra tenner or so, and if there are any deals about which make it the same cost then it"s no contest at all.

This is their website for anybody with any other business in Luton in the near future - http://www.iconhotelluton.com/ (http://www.iconhotelluton.com/)
