Was surprised at that one too.  Hope this doesn"t set an awkward precedent for next year - Liverpool, West Midlands, Solent, Sunderland, etc....

I"m happy with the precedent

Assuming next year we hold one in Brighton, hypothetically, Team Solent would be invited etc etc as long as the local club was active, contributing to furthering APAT etc etc

Great idea. I only just connected the league team that gained an entry, with the venue. My thought was that we would end up with a glut of league teams entering, and it just becomes a live version of the online league. I see now that this is obviously not the case.

Me too but you gotta do what you gotta do.

This tiff in a teacup isn"t an APAT issue so I thought it best.

FWIW...It was MY decision to SNIP and no-one else"s....before that kicks off too.

Of course it is an APAT issue ffs, it concerns the selection process for the team comp. and some valid questions that require answers. Perhaps you should have consulted your peers before making a decision.

Yeah John, freedom of speech and all that, but having seen the post before it disappeared would probably agree it may be better APAT dealing with it on a personal level.

Kev FWIW I fully understand your frustration, and yeah in life we"ll come across these disappointing situations where we feel there"s been an injustice of some sort. On a similar level many of us are waiting on word about whether or not we"ll be chosen to represent APAT in Luton, if the end result is rejection in favour of others then it"ll sting (yes it happened last year when trying to get into the Betfair team)..........but I would fully trust that the decision has not been a partial one and that a huge amount of thought and discussion has taken place to reach that decision. I personally will then get behind the other members of the team and cheer them on from the rail and hope that you can do the same mate.

Cheers
Grant

Generally I agree with you but the issue in question was getting even more personal and abusive than before and, in fact, stemmed from a previous fracas elsewhere.

The Team discussion was, IMO, a "straw man" used to start it up all over again.

I took it offline and stated my reasons on the mod board...if I had been over-ruled I wouldn"t have minded...but I wasn"t.

I like to keep the APAT board a happy place and this was harshing my mellow...man!

Paulie, My posts in this thread were in no way abusive or personal and I take offence that you are insinuating that they were. My posts questioned the selection process for the comp, nothing else.

Your opinion that "The Team discussion was, IMO, a "straw man" used to start it up all over again." is ridiculous and unfounded.

As Des has posted earlier, he had no problem with the thread staying up, he also understood why you thought it best to remove it. ( he has to be seen to back his team in public understandably).

Des did indeed communicate with me via PM on here and we both explained where we were coming from and made our views known. As far as I was concerned that was the matter finished and done with, then I see you posting in a self important puffed up manner implying that you have saved the forum from some sort of terrorist attack, get a grip man ffs.

In fact, here is my post on the subject ...
You obviously ignored the rules of your selection process by allowing teams which do not have a forum to be selected, and even told someone who applied as a sub forum from Sky that they were not eligible yet selected a sub forum from APAT.

I understand that it is your party and you control the invites but perhaps you should not invite applications next time and just select the teams that you want to play, because the playing field was not exactly even was it.

Good luck to ALL teams who got in, I am sure it will be a great event.

Take cover everyone, the above post is obviously too distressing for the delicate eyes of APAT readers according to Paulie.

Paul, I find you constant unilateral censorship of this forum abusive

Kev

FWIW....I didn"t point fingers at any individuals.

I agree your posts weren"t abusive but other people"s were and, it seemed to me that the tenor of the conversation was headed the wrong way.

Perhaps your questions weren"t intended as I thought and if that"s the case so be it...mea culpa but I thought it best at the time.

If Des or Richard choose to merge the two threads together that"s up to them.

WASP.

I disagree with the term censorship as it"s somewhat pejorative.

Moderation is what I was asked to do by Des....and if he chooses to over-rule anything I do it"s not an issue for me. Des chose not to do so at the time....and that"s good enough for me.

Mark Allum - GoldenJaguar
Duncan Godfrey - Runadrum
Michael Plant - Staffy
Kevan Lim - Haichan
Andrew Bell - Andybell
Daniel Sims - Spurman

Reserves will be:

Steven Marskell - Fonzie14

I was going to post that it"s not fair that you are allowed Helen in the team as she is far too good. However as you"ve counter balanced that up by having Marc Allum I guess that it"s OK.

Just a quick question.
Our team has one member who cannot confirm for certain until a week before the event.
Is a last minute sub allowed if itcomes to it, or do we have to be certain now?

ANT WILLIAMS
MALCOLM HOWELL

Strong team representing West Midlands.

Solent to enter as Hampshire Poker Club next time.

Strong team representing the BCPC (hence the team name). If we were representing the West Midlands then West Midlands players would have been eligible rather than just BCPC players (and all of those had to qualify via the rankings).

Why not start up a Hampshire Poker Club, then next time you could enter them?

Hi GUys,

Not sure whether this has already been mentioned but Luton G does not allow any kind of casual footwear. YOU MUST WEAR DRESS SHOES. If you don"t you will be offered a pair of the shoes they have behind reception and lets just say they are not very desirable, they"re that bad that everyone will know you"ve forgotten YOUR shoes lol...BIG RUBBER TOES come to mind.

Like I say I"m not sure whether it was mentioned, just don"t want anyone turned away! ;) ;) ;)

Adam, welcome to APAT.

I'm sure you will get an official response from an APAT mod but you had to apply for this team event which 16 teams were picked as it was oversubscribed. So unfortunately you are too late but keep an eye on the forum because you never know if any team may drop out (unlikely)

I emailed G casino Luton and asked if dress shoes were necessary.
What they told me was;
"no sports clothes/footwear of any kind,no dirty orworkmans clothes, no torn or ripped jeans, no shorts/hats/hooded tops."

should be possible to work to that dress code and still be comfortable
