When are we likely to know who is sponsoring this event and are there likely to be online buyin"s for it?

Still trying to think of something amusing to write in this bit.

ECOAP European Team Selection
« Reply #80 on: June 13, 2012, 10:22:40 AM »
Just to confirm the team selection process to captain"s and anyone else who is interested.

The captain"s of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will each pick their leading player from the National Online League, which finishes this weekend.

None of the other international teams will be required to do this.

Each captain can submit a squad of either four or five players for the Championship.  However, only a maximum of four players will be eligible to play in any one phase of the ECOAP European Amateur Team Championship.  Captains can chop and change which of their four players they wish to use for each phase of the event.

So for example, if a captain submits a five player squad to include players a, b, c, d and e.  He may chose to play:-

Phase 1 - NLHE Sit & Go - players a, b, d, e

Phase 2 - PLO Sit & Go - players b, c, d, e

Phase 3 - HU - players a, c

Phase 4 - HU - players a, d

Phase 5 - MTT - players a, c, d, e

Captains will not be required to specify which players are playing which phase until just before each phase starts.

If captains have any questions, please post them here.

Des - are you able to confirm yet how points will be scored in each event please?

Also, is there definitely only one round of NLHE STT? I seem to remember there were two rounds in the previous championship...

The format will be exactly as per last year"s WCOAP Steve and we"ll try and confirm the points allocation during the month.  Expect something similar to the WCOAP, with perhaps a little less emphasis on the final MTT.

OK understood re points, but.... if format is exactly the same as last WCOAP, then surely two rounds of NLHE STT, rather than the one listed in OP, right?

From the last WCOAP thread, the format was...

Quote

Day One

2:30pm 7 x 8 handed NLHE STT
5:30pm 7 x 8 handed PLO STT
9:00pm 35 x HU Matches (To be run back to back)

Day Two

2:30pm 7 x 8 handed NLHE STT
6:00pm 56 Runner MTT (9 handed tables)

Am trying to consider best format for team selection and dynamics, hence being picky - it makes a difference....

The entry fee per player for the event will be £100 + £10 and there will be a fee for two international shirts of around £30.

Des - If a captain selects five players, will the team be required to pay 5 x £100 + £10 as they will have the advantage of an additional player ?

Secondly, if a team with five players finishes in a medal position, will that team be awarded five medals ?

The OP was used to demonstrate an example of how 5 players might be utilised across the phase types, not an example of the running order of the phases.  Apols for any confusion.  ;)

If not they, IMO, should.

Bear in mind that in a team of 5, one person will always be sat out, so the team"s actual contribution to the poker will only ever be 4 players..... therefore, the cost should be £400 + £40 for the team, which is £110 each in a 4 person team, and £88 each in a five person team.

I asked the question because I still haven"t decided whether to include a 5th player. If that player is playing for free then it would make sense to bring in a PLO or a HU specialist just for that event. Is that fair ?

True..but that team of 5 has the advantage of depth...so they should pay more for that advantage.
