Now That's What I Call a Sunday Staking Request
« on: June 29, 2012, 10:17:07 AM »
Saw this staking request (which is fully sold out) on another forum, and just wanted to copy and paste on here to get people"s thoughts.

Is a schedule like this really possible ?    Can you actually play your best poker across the games ?   Is it really more of a scatter gun approach to reduce variance ?

Assuming you go deep in some of the later ones, is it pretty much sat in front of a PC for 20+ hours ?

Leigh,

Although it"s staking related I think this is the wrong place for it.

Moved to General Poker.

You basically have to be a complete boss to play this sort of schedule.

Think the guy selling is exactly that. For those that have this sort of staking money avaliable this is good value.

The vast majority of people could never play their best poker with this schedule though.

Saw this too and was astounded!

One of my thoughts was surely you"d have to adjust to poker style/thoughts/ranges/opinions of ranges for most of the schedule with it having such a varied buyin amounts.

Assuming play is ALOT different, by which I mean, better and more advanced, in a $500 buyin than a $11 Turbo!!

Could you realistically play your best with such varied games?

In my opinion no. You can"t play your A game for that long. The player is question though is a different level to anybody on this forum and most other forums. Although I doubt even he is actually playing his A game for the whole of the schedule his B game is still much better than almost everybody elses A game so it makes sense for him to play for this long.

I would not try it and would not recommend it to anybody. I would however have been happy to buy a tiny piece of this had I seen it in time. It"s great value.

Its Marc Wright, one of the top UK players

http://www.pocketfives.com/profiles/dean23price/

Only $2.5m in gross online cashes, EPT final table live (staked on blonde) etc

Its perfectly possible for him, otherwise he wouldn"t ask. For most of us, no not possible.

This is a guy who plays huge schedules every Sunday.

He"s been profitable on virtually every staking request on blonde, sells out in minutes and keeps the mark up fairly reasonable given the demand for his action

his blurb could not exude more confidence

"I know its a big schedule but i still think its value and a good investment, as im going to have multiple deep runs on the day and its gtd to show a return of some form (hopefully winning :-)"

The comment on the bottom of this page is awesome "1/14 will prob win", wish I could have that confidence.

Definitely a total boss from what I understand. I still doubt he is actually playing his very best for 20 hours straight, (I could be wrong) he is just good enough that he is still much better than the required level to do really well in those events even when he is has a slight drop off.

Not meaning to question him and his success in this for a moment, who the hell would I think I am if was I meaning this!

merely saying for anyone isnt not hard to play across multi tables in multi tournies with such varied buyins.

Woud be easier to play same schedule with similar buyins? All around Mids or all around higher?

Just my thoughts?

ask him on the thread Waz!

He doesn"t bite. Unless he has position on you and a big stack.

good reply I thought. Yes he misses some spots he admits, but he

a) has a system to prioritise those comps he is deep in
b) notes on virtually all his oppos which simplifies his decision making
c) playing a lot of table helps him avoid tilt
d) He knows others image of him, which means he"s less exploitable as his 3 bets always get called
