He added: "Just picture a drunk walking down the street and somebody goes up and just pickpockets him. That"s how I characterise it."

This will get settled out of court for sure.

Whilst I have some sympathy for the man and the casino may have failed on their responsibilities his characterisation is laughable.

"Just picture a drunk walking down the street. He walks up to someone and hands them his wallet and begs them to take it."

That"s how I characterise it.

Some more detail here: http://www.itv.com/news/2014-03-07/too-drunk-gambler-loses-500-000-in-las-vegas-casino/

"Mr Johnston, an experienced gambler, was dropping chips on the floor, confusing chip colors and slurring his speech badly, and he was unable to read his cards or set his hands properly".

I think Stu Ward has a strong case against several casinos.

So have booked from June 11th to June 20th in Vegas to take Lilly for the first time, having only been the once and with a shedload of degens I find myself being asked about "shows" and "pools" and "shops" stuff.. obviously nothing I have experienced before from the last time. Looking for some info from people in the know on here.. any help?

OH and hotels.. We"re going to try and hop from 1 to another during the stay.. hoping to maybe do 3.. any clues as to what would tick all the boxes for her resort wise? Going to start trip advisor checking.. but any help from anyone would be brill. Thanks x

OH.. and June.. seems to coincide with some poker festival over there.. currently negotiating that one :) x

Brill thanks Dave some great links off there as well. Big hugs.

p.s. hoped to see you last night, popped into the G as Gary P and Fiddy were playing.. got there a little late so texted Gary P on the way for him to say he"d just got knocked out.. then wandered into the room to see Brian just standing up. Then fiddy got moved on the break and when he went back to his table his chips had disappeared / merged into the guy sat next to hims stack.. I felt like the kiss of death  :-\ x

You"re there for 9 nights toughly so 3 hotels would be 3 nights a piece.

Firstly, I approve of the idea, experience what you can, when you can but don"t forget that the unpacking and repacking can be a hassle...be sure you are ready for it.

Also, don"t forget that there is usually a gap between check out and check in times. Not always a hassle as you can just drop your bags at the bell desk before you check in and they"ll be ready for you when you get around to it. Don"t forget to tip the bellman...$1 bag should do it.

As for hotels, well, the Quad obviously isn"t going to cut it with the trouble and strife along so you"ll have to push the boat out a little.

For reasonable rates I would consider :

Planet Hollywood for the shop factor
Paris for the "romance" factor
Venetian for all of the above and (shhh) the Poker.
Aria (not stayed but people rave about it)
Cosmopolitan (ditto)

Other options -
MGM (reasonable rates but lordy it"s huge, location"s good though)
Caesars (overpriced for what it is)

The thing with Vegas hotels is that there are so many to choose from you can basically find a reason to stay at them all.

Personally I would ignore Venetian/Palazzo and have chosen not to frequent those casinos any more, which sucks because they are awesome, but I am supporting our American friends in their fight to play online poker and the owner of these casinos is leading the opposition charge.

Looking at Paul"s list above I would also take out Paris. Needs a refurb! PH is worth a stay, as is Aria. Cosmopolitan is good as well especially if you are prepared to splash out for a room with a balcony opposite the Bellagio fountains. I would also add Wynn/Encore if you"re happy to pay the rates, everyone I know raves about the place.

possibly even easier than that - when I changed hotels last time I was in Vegas, Caesars Palace had no problem in checking me in early. I would expect most of the hotels would be the same as long as they don"t usually specifically charge for early check in.

Cheers Paulie, was thinking Venetian and had thought Caesers as well.. but heard bad things about it.. guess it all depends on the depth of the old pockets.

Thanks Adam.. Wynn is a definite possibility, hearing good things.. and have added Cosmopolitan.

Thanks Jon.. any feedback on the Caesers stay?

Bellagio is on the short list as well.. anyone stayed there? x

Never stayed there but from what I hear, you"re a bit young for there ;)

Caesar"s Palace is very nice. It looks good, has a nice set of swimming pools, lots of food options and is handy for the Forum Shops. The only question about it would be whether it"s good value for money.

It"s the only hotel I stayed at where the person at reception asked me if I wanted change for my $20 tip/bribe for checking for complimentary upgrades :D

That might be the key - if you get upgraded then it"s good value, if not - less so.

As long as you avoid the absolutely cheapest rooms there then I wouldn"t expect you to regret it - and if nothing else, it probably has the most iconic value in Vegas; even if people know absolutely nothing about Las Vegas or gambling they"ll still have heard of Caesar"s Palace.

Cheers Adam and Jon. Bellagio crossed off. Caesars.. for a first trip crossed off as well.

Jason.. trainer for a day.. genius idea :) Major major brownie points. Thank you!

And a week on my own? Yup.. definitely forgot that bit  :-\

So 3 hotels on a short list..

MANDARIN ORIENTAL
PALAZZO
VENETIAN

Drawn up by the good wife..

Going to add in the ones suggested on here.. as I suspect these are probably the most expensive... ::)

On a personal note.. this weekend we"re welcoming to the North East a multitude of APAT"ers invited for James Barber"s northern Stag Doo edition. We"re off to York and then back to Yarm after.. and I"m sure it"s more the merrier.. anyone who fancies it drop me a PM x
