APAT announces new relationship with PLON
« on: February 11, 2019, 23:20:01 PM »
February 13, 2019, London: The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) is delighted to confirm details of a freshly inked partnership with Poker League of Nations (PLON) to encourage and support the growth of women in poker.

Starting with the World Championship of Amateur Poker (WCOAP) 19-28 April 2019 in Vienna, Austria, and running into APAT's full forthcoming Season 13, PLON will sponsor the inaugural APAT Ladies Series and present a Tiffany & Co. bracelet to the leading lady who tops the 'WCOAP Ladies Series Leaderboard' to be crowned the first ever APAT PLON Ladies Champion.  Results will be taken from WCOAP events and awarded points to be allocated to the Leaderboard.

Poker League of Nations was founded in 2017 with the aim of proactively creating, promoting and lobbying for worldwide opportunities to increase the participation of women playing poker, in order to grow open player fields.  PLON's objectives include fostering social connectivity and providing educational development - as relates to both play and rules of the game.  They strive to reach all countries by engaging representatives residing therein, and with multiple representatives in areas where casino and poker tournaments take place.  PLON provides free educational events and gatherings led by recognized industry professionals and have introduced women to online poker who have never played online.  With over 3,100 members, PLON has engaged women to participate exponentially in open events, whilst growing a solid organization valued for community, support, outreach, information and knowledge.

The WCOAP is now in its 12th year and in 2019 will take place at the Concord Card Casino, Wien-Simmering in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria for a full 10 days starting on Friday 19th April and concluding on Sunday 28th April 2019, with 30 bracelet events, including a 2-Day (International) World Team Championship, a 3-Day Main Event with 4 Day 1 starting days and a €30k Guarantee, 6 (including OFC!) mixed/stud/limit events, including the 2-Day 8-Game Players' Championship and the first-ever hosting of an APAT 'Short Deck' and 'Fusion' Championship events.

APAT's Season 13 will start after the WCOAP 2019, and whilst the finer details are being confirmed, the full schedule of events for the WCOAP can be found at APAT.com/wcoap

Lena Evans, PLON Founder said “I am genuinely pleased and proud to partner with the Amateur Poker Association & Tour with a view toward advancement of Poker League of Nations as an international cooperative advocating for women in poker.  APAT, with more than a decade of global poker operations is a hugely respected organization and therefore the quintessential partner to advance PLON's overriding initiative of engaging, empowering, expanding and supporting women's participation in open poker fields.  Augmenting APAT's live tour of open events with a ladies series will be a brilliant vehicle to effectuate PLON's evolution.”

Tom Brady, APAT Operations Director said “We are hugely excited about this new relationship and I'd encourage all ladies to get involved.  APAT and PLON are a perfect fit for breaking down the barriers that are felt by many women in what is historically a male-dominated environment, and for increased opportunities and development for all ladies at every stage of their poker experience, with fun, sociable and competitive poker at the core. We're thrilled to be able to deliver such a wide-ranging variety of events, and WCOAP is designed to have something for everyone, and is open to everyone, and with our new relationship all ladies can look forward to conjoined support and encouragement from APAT and PLON in their love of poker.”
