Another record broken. It was a loaded final table full of bracelet-holders, as you'd expect in a loaded tournament like this. The winner was a bracelet-winner, but not just any one. Jim Bechtel was Main Event Champion in 1993. His 26-year gap between bracelets is the longest ever, beating Chip Reece's 24 years in 2006. And here's spooky - Bechtel was on Reece's $50k HORSE final table. Bechtel said he hasn't played for 4-5 years and won't play again this year, which seems a waste, as he's clearly still got what it takes.

I don't know whether it was also a record for the oldest heads-up, but 67-year-old Bechtel was playing 77-year-old Vince Musso. This was Musso's 6th WSOP cash spread over 41 years - all of them in 2-7 NL. He was 3rd in this same $10k event in successive years in 1978 and 1979. Then, after a short 30-year gap, he came back and was 6th in 2009 and 11th in 2010.

Despite playing a field full of younger professionals, the old guys whipped ass. It's a pity they don't play more often.

With all the whipper-snappers despatched, Vince Musso and Jim Bechtel get down to the serious work

Joe has clearly prepared Klodnicki well - that's a 3rd and a 5th already this year. Kessler takes a something-has-to-stick approach in his 100th tournament of this Series.

Runner-up John Evans from..........yeah it's Texas.

Pollock's second PLO bracelet and 12 points for Paxo with Jumanji. The final table also included Bleznick and Galfond. It's a bit surprising that no-one has picked three-time bracelet winner Galfond.

This event went on so long they had to add not just an extra day, but extra levels. They players outlasted the blind structure, which had to be rejigged. There was a key hand with three players left, when two of them shoved on the flop and Todd Dreyer, who had both the others covered, reluctantly folded. It turned out they both had straight and flush draws, and his higher flush draw would have won the lot right there.

Also on the final table was 'Captain' Tom Franklin, who won a bracelet in 1999 and has put it on eBay for $50k, many times more than has been raised by more landmark bracelets previously. Tom has had numerous 2nds, 3rds and 4ths since the win but will have to wait a bit longer for a replacement if the bracelet sells. He used to be quite a well-known figure in poker circles, though claims of sexual harassment, which included one casino withdrawing all female dealers part-way through his own tournament, The Tom Franklin Invitational, have taken the shine off a bit.

Song got the gong, so it's a win-win for us - Laplante has repaid his supporters' faith with lots of points, but he didn't snag the bracelet, so we don't have to hear another over-emotional winner's speech. But look where Hellmuth finished, and Deeb. How do these guys do it?

Former ice-hockey pro Greg Mueller won two bracelets in 11 days in 2009, and then had to wait ten years for another. Again there was a key hand with three players left, when Mueller went with his read on Sammartino and got all-in with bottom pair on the flop, and he was right as Sammartino just had a double gutter. Mueller's hand held for a double-up and it went on from there.

Points for those who selected Sammartino and Clements.

Mueller - an excellent analyst of body language

We nearly saw our first female winner with Thida Lin getting to heads-up, but she finished second, with Zedan taking it for El Salvador.

Razavi got close in this and has now been 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the WSOP - surely a bracelet will come? He been posting on our FB page since - perhaps he will enter a team next time?

I'm posting this result even though the event hasn't finished as this US v Russia heads-up may actually never end, with the lead going back and forth repeatedly. They are 5½ hours in and it has been marked by appalling heads-up play by Koppel, in my opinion, folding the button more often than playing it. Someone is probably counting up how many times he's done it, but it has been a lot. I saw that he folded four buttons in a row just before one of the breaks. We haven't got many points here anyway, so the sooner I can forget about this tournament, the better.

And, of course, the minute I post that, the damn thing finishes. Korenv won for Russia, if anyone cares, but I ain't rewriting this.

Good to see I am ahead of both Danny S 1 & Danny S 2.

As I was a tad bored yesterday (kids away & stuck indoors wiv a cold), I thought I would see how our teams are doing on a cash basis!

Richard          $919,636

Where is Karen, I hear you ask? Around 8th place!
Vince aka AlbusFawkes aka TheHitDog

We've had "If you call it's gonna be all over baby." Now there's a new memorable final-hand phrase. Nicholas Howard reraised all-in on the River and Cazayous made the call, leading to Howard saying "You're going to win the tournament with that call”, before tabling his cards. There were a few bracelet-holders on the final, led by Upeshka De Silva in 3rd, with his fifth cash of this Series. I was delighted to see one of my new favourite players Ping Liu again finishing high, while a former favourite Craig McCorkell also cashed and Griffin Benger checked his privilege in 32nd.
