APAT has a new organisational membership level.  Blue Square and Grosvenor are both organisational members of APAT, as are two or three official partners that we still have to announce ahead of Season Two.  What that means is that any player joining APAT via these organisations will get a free full membership.

So that means anybody going to any Grosvenor will get free and instant membership of APAt.

Will they have to fill in any paperwork for this with their details for APAt to have a record of?

Like you said Jon, anyone signing up on the night will automatically be an APAT member.

This makes things easier to manage I guess, but also means that all sorts of people will be playing in the regionals.  Again, this will attract more people to APAT tournaments both on and offline.  So, this sounds like a good thing - it just means that "APAT" will be different.  Bigger, more players, greater awareness - all things that APAT wants,  but this could be at the expense of some of the camaraderie.  Possibly.

But how will APAt keep track of them?

The current membership is by email address - the second season paves the (quite sensible) way of people who (shock, horror) don"t have email addresses.

What kind of details will APAt have on these new members to know who they are?

I haven"t got a clue.  I think that membership numbers (and maybe cards?) might need to be brought in at some time - possibly.

Grosvenor and Blue Square will supply APAT with all of the relevant contact details, including email address, for each competing player.

Surely just a membership card will do, or some kind of annotation on each individual players entry on the Grosvenor database???

Does sound like a real headache though!!!! I"m absolutely certain  Des, Rich & Tikay have thought of these problems though and have a solution in place  ;D

I have yet to play in an APAT tournament because by the time I have recieved the email notification the events have been sold out.
Are you considering restricting players to their own nominated region to enable more players the chance to compete.
If you and BlueSQ are actively promoting membership and (as is very likely) increase your membership dramaticaly, you will be hearing a lot more sob stories and complaints from people who are unable to register in time.
I wish the APAT all the success in the world, you really deserve it. So much accomplished in so short a time.
Can"t wait for the new season to kick off.
