Can we still slap you?

Slap me or clap me ... it was just a stroll through the poker countryside ...

It"s dark outside - as good as any other reason to play some cards ...

Mini Cash Session for +$82 ... riverred an absurd straight when lining up a bluff ...

$12k SH Deepstack just about to start.

It"s a nice little tournament - 5000 chips - 12 min levels - c225 runners - time I won it.

In a bid to lose to some weight I have been walking a lot this week ...

I nearly broke my scales over Christmas at 16 stone 8 (Mammoth) ... back to 15 stone 9 ... soon I will fly away in the wind ... like a goose ...

$12k was short-lived ... a fool cut me in half with AT vs my AK ...

I then foolishly gave my chips away 88 in Txx ... vs KT ...

Back to the cash ... but before that:

Fillet Steak - Rare as can be
Bottle of Merlot - (still in play)
Side - Bacon Sandwich
Side - Big pile of cheese

Correct me if I am wrong - but that is Showbiz.

What is not Showbiz - is me ordering some Champagne Flutes - and Tesco subbing them for some Tesco Finest Wine Glasses ...

... however the delivery man ... had the correct advice ... just drink it out of the bottle ...

The night is young.

Sadly no showbiz poker on the cash tables ...

AJ raise called in the blinds ... J98 ... flop ... lost just about the min to 98s

Earlier ... lost a AK vs 99 flip for a buy in ...

Generally a little too loose ... but also lost K3 clubs into JJx two clubs ... vs JT ... no help.

Maybe I really should have taken March off poker ...

No poker yesterday ...

At desk 6.30am - company accounts just about ready to go to the accountants.

Had lunch with my dad ... aged 78.6 years ... as I arrived he was explaining to the waitress the difference between imagination and fancy (according to Samuel Coleridge) ...

Enter waitress two ... my dad asks "what variety of potatoe is this"?

Answer - "It"s just a pototo, they come in a big bag ..."

I like this answer ... but my dad goes on to tell me of the time he challenged a shop for labelling their potatoes as "Edzell Blues" when they were clearly "Arran Victory" ... where does this knowledge go?

Tallinn qualifier tonight ...

I have been pondering my poker approach ... I"ve been pretty wild since Betfair London Live ... broadly unlucky ... but also broadly too active early on it Tournaments and broadly trying to do absurb things as cash ...

I think the summary is the usual summary ... play less ... play bigger stake tournaments ... sit on hands for a while ...

Tallinn qualifier ...

QQ into 345 ... 79 shoves ... turns flush draw ... rivers a straight ... LOL ...

Pretty amused by the fact there are already 50000 runnrers in the poker TEN million ... looks like 2000 runners will last 30 mins or less ...

Blog - 2 years old yesterday ...

I thought I would have a special anniversary entry ... but work and events in Japan thwarted me ...

I have just clocked up 120 hours effective work in 12 days ... no complaints ... great challenges/rewards.

What I wasn"t ready for was news of Earthquakes/Tsunamis in Japan - where my brother + family live.

They live in Tokyo and you "know" they will be okay being so far from Sendai - but you cannot help the emotional reaction caused by the pictures.

I quickly got in touch via email - Tokyo like a scene from a movie - no phones - all the highways shut - a 1 hour journey taking 11.5 hours - people driving through the back roads - jumping all the red lights.

The country is in shock ...

Year 3

I was pondering how much harder it has become to make any money at poker ... part of that is lack of grind time ... but I am pretty sure there is much less soft play these days.

So I think the plan this year is to attack some bigger tournaments and pump up the volatility!

Another great schedule from the APAT of which I will miss most - will play the worlds - and the Pro Am - and whatever else can be squeezed in ... sad to see the Pro-League go ... but fair play in terms of allowing bigger fields for what are the main events.

GUKPT screaming out to me ... but on the face of it ... it"s a rock hard tournament with a fat £1500 buy-in ...

That said the only time I played a side event in the GUKPT - a loaded table with big hendon mob records left little impression ... standard QQ vs AQ exit as we approached the money ... sigh!

Nothing to fear - much less prone to make absurd plays face to face ...

The sensible play is to wait for the Black Belt Live ... assuming there are still seats ... ponder ponder ...

A little cameo on the cash tables ... +$100 (half a buy-in) ... nice cards and slightly passive opponents ... long may this last ...

Back to form with a bit of a card racky +£825 playing cash ... played all sorts ... hit most things ... such is poker at times ...

Feels like a crazy fighting fund for Cheltenham tomorrow ...

Today ... felt harsh done by with regards to Maljimar ... which would have netted +£1000 ... and also a crazy last race ... albeit I would have lost on Quantitative Easing ...

Happy days ...
