Cheers mate - nice to be a little back on track - though I would love to Iron all this varaince out overall - all pretty savage both ways.

given the stakes you play at, your variance isn"t too bad

Variance of cards has been huge this year ... I have kept a lid on negative numbers by dropping down a few levels and looking to qualify for things as much as possible.

Would be nice to kick on now ...

KK back to haunt me ... lost in both Betfair Qualifiers with this hand vs AQ and QQ ... bought into $20k.

RT +$727 plus any winnings tonight.

Started okay 31st of 111 left ... all standard stuff ...

Second Break:

15th of 28 with 18 paid.

Key Hand: Flopped trip tens ... opponent flop straight! ... river pairs the board ... lovely ... luck much better than skill these days.

Third Break:

3rd of 15 left ...

AA vs TT
AA vs QQ

88 vs A8 on the bubble ... I raise with 88 ... dodgy call with A8 (though I have been raising everything!) ... the case 8 on the turn a sweet card to appear!

I have 27k - Average 20k - Chip Leader 81k!

4th Break

6th of 9 ... and very pleasing to make the final table two days in a row ... pretty card dead ... but picked up 29 in the BB ... flop Q22 ... my opponent slow playing AA ... smile.

Field getting a bit more compressed - chances.

But no cards at the final table ... but I semi-limp to sixth place and $1,000

Final hand I push with J8s into KQs ... no help.

RT +$1,727

Final Table Hat-Trick bit is on ... qualified for $32 ... to the $100+9 - Betfair $20k G"tee.

Could have been less - QQ vs K9 - under no pressure - why?

Played a bit of cash last night ... AA called by K5 ... and lost ... $11 up despite this.

Football bet to net off from the weekend ... Liverpool and Ayr won ... but Everton lost (to Man City - sigh!)

RT +$1642 - but winnings tonight.

Toying with playing the I-Poker $50k g"tee at same time - not sure how fresh my mind is?

I don"t think I can write much about beats at the moment - as I have dished a few out in the last two nights.

I-Poker $50k g"tee $50 re-buy.

Bought a double stack and ambled for 45 mins

Limped with QJ

Flop QJx - two spades

Bet before me - though short stack - I Min raise - next to act all in which I call.

Initial raiser KT - no spades
All in - AQ - one spade ...

River is an Ace ... near the end of the re-buy so I walk.

RT +$1537 plus any winnings tonight.

Betfair $20k

1st Break - Nothing really happening - 67th of 110 left - 18 paid.

... and out in 93rd ... AK vs QQ ... Ace Hits ... but a Queen on the Turn ... normal service resumed ... fair enough!

No Hat-Trick ... but a good few days.

Snooker day today ...

Really like the way Murphy is cueing ...

Higgins has escaped twice but I think he might be too far behind Murphy for it to matter.

Murphy 5/2 - Looks good to me (Higgins 8/5) - Won on him last time he won it - so let"s get on!

Murphy - cannot get over how much he looks like the dad out of The Incredibles ... but looking good to make the final.

Poker ... I played the Betfair $20k ... lost ... RT +$1428.

Weird tournament ... starting chips 2,500 ... stayed alive for 2+ hours but despite trying to play lots of hands never got past 2,900 ... unreal!

AT push into 88 in the end ... no improvement.

Away from the tables ... had some fine Haggis yesterday ... and bought a football to kick and run with on my local beach ... I think that is how life should be ...

Need to slowly tidy the house for visitors ... I think today is a gin, tonic and lime day ... right?

Nah - some days are Pimms days ... others for Pink Champagne ... sometimes a Guinness for breakfast is nice (being an official food) ...

I bought some Sparkling Shiraz too ... which some people think is a sin ... but sounds good to me ...

Always interesting to see what guests will bring ...

Murphy 2 Higgins 3 ... bet chopped last night ... at no loss ... couldn"t face paying for another choke.

Hope Higgins does it now. (Coin Flip?)

No weekend poker ... which bubbles well for when I get back to the table.

No poker today ... well not yet ...

Wii Fit and shopping ... transition from house to flat is an expensive one ... so many rooms to fill ... and the garden to cut ... and DIY issues ... to delegate for speed an accuracy to a hired hand ...

Reflecting a bit on general poker position at the moment ... would be very happy to take something down and "retire" ... hard slog to get to a race after 3/4/5 hours ...

Face to face ... insert 9/12/15 hours ... seems like a weakness in the game (or a weakness in my mind!) ... might force me to play more Omaha or 7 card stud!
