... mmm 89th of 92 at Break One of the Betfair $20k g"tee.

Flopped a straight and semi-crippled on the river when my fishy opponent caught a higher straight ...

Could have killed things ... but only QJ killed me (if the river was a 9!) ... which is of course what happened ...

The beneficiary soon disappearing having donated "my" chips to the table!

Earlier - I was ahead when beaten in three low stakes qualifiers to the event.

So RT +$1,100 with a comeback to come??

Big cash game tomorrow night ...

Quite a few football positions to (potentially) close profit on ...

Man U for League and Champions League
Preston for Promotion
Falkirk or ICT to go down in SPL
(Lost money on Scot Div 1)
Shaktar D for UEFA Cup

No Miracle recovery in the $20k ... mmm ... still early!

... early exit from $20k ... decided to play a Vegas first round qualifier ...

$55 in ... 20 runners for one $550 seat and a $450 consolation ...

Four left ... JJ push ... into A7 ... flop A77 ... AYE!

RT +$1,045

Cash Game

£1/£2 pot limit Hold "em ... lots of good cards= £521.50 profit.

In successive hands fully paid AA Vs QQ and AA Vs TT (flop ATx) ... next hand AK into Kxx flop ...

Later in the night turned 22 into quads ... and 44 into quads ...

Folded overpairs twice when re-raised (both to the same player - once correctly - once not)

It was pointed out to me that the exchange rate is now 1.5 ... (all previous entries at 1.4) ... so =$782 on the night.

RT +$1827.

Wedding tomorrow and other commitment for Sunday day time ... so next cards looks like being the APAT league match ...

Back in time (just) for the $20k g"tee on Betfair ...

Good start spoiled by a crazy fish call which of course hit ... then ran TT into AA ... and once low KQ into AK ... for 52nd of 143 ...

Having fun in the $100k g"tee on RacingPostPoker

130th of 170 from 556 ... but still 20 BB ... excellent structure ... 60 paid and unfortunately just been moved from table with a lot of fishy chips on it.

Oh well ... out in 160th ... AQ flat called ... Queen on the Turn ... running into the made JJJ on the flop!

Poker -$249 on the day.
Football -$38 on the day.

RT + $1,540

Loose play tonight ... no get out of jail free cards ... poor.

Racing Post Poker - $100k very well set up - 10,000 chips - 20 min levels - $130+10 buy in - will be a very late finish - but unlikely to become a crap shoot - Bravo.

RT +$1529

APAT League Match ... 17th from 39 ... crippled with AA vs 77 ... both committed preflop ... 7 on the flop.

Champagne in the sun for the second day running.

Very ready to sleep!

RT +$1,507

Played the Betfair Lunch Time Super Turbo ...

AQ loses to A2 ...

followed by a salty

A9 vs A2 loss ...

It"s not really poker so it shouldn"t count ...

I have done something to my back ... so off to the Osteopath ... the combination of Wii Fit Hula Hoop, standing about all day at weddings and sitting all night to play poker has done me in ... hard to attribute "blame" ... perhaps I should have added the cakes that Jeanie has been feeding me ... some extra weight not helping.

I am meant to be climbing mountains next week ... so let"s hope it is a great session.

RT +$1365

A2 in the morning.

AA at night.

4th from 9 for $510 seat when AA loses to J9 (Jxx on the flop) and J on the river ...

Then in the $20k g"tee K6s vs AA in the blinds once short ...

All pretty standard.

Some interesting events in London tomorrow - £200 freezeout at the International (new Gutshot) Club

Also £100 re-buy to £1k main event at the Sportsman (Vegas warm up).

May be issues on numbers of runners at both.

May just chill out ...

First Visit to the International Club in London.

Seems like a long time since I signed in at 1pm today.

I played the £25+5 freezeout to warm up.

Something like 24 runners - I went out in 8th (4 paid)

55 into 5KJ (all clubs) ... the big blind goes all in ... and I have to call ... 67 clubs ... baby flush push ... no help.

I then ponder my next move - there is a Super Turbo to the main event £200 freezeout.

But enough time in between to semi-donk off £100 playing £1,£1 NL

Super Turbo - 500 chips - 20 min Levels (25,25) and (25,50) then a freezeout.

AK into AA and JJ
88 loses to 66
33 loses to 67
AK loses to 53

Not my day ... once into the freezeout ... I am on the button with AK ... player to act before me pushed without looking with J8 and hits a straight ...

Mmmm.

In for a penny in for a pound so I buy in the £200+10 freezeout - 31 runners.

Initially table has two of the Gutshot pros on (Andy Achillea (who won the last one) and Ed Roger) plus Louise Duffy recently second from 121 in £100 F/O at the club, plus Charles Sanderson - APAT medalist and cashed at the world series.

10000 Chips - 25 min levels. Estimated end time 2-3 a.m.

Decided to loosen up ... hovered around the 10,000 mark before raising with 97 ... called by Andy A ... flop yields a straight draw ... which cheaply hits on the river ... to allow a check min raise to be paid ...

Loose play fully rewared soon after to make me early chip leader.

AA UTG ... Blinds 100/200 ... I raise to 625 ... flat called ... then re-raised to 2,500 by Andy A ... trivial all in ... which after soon time is called by initial flat caller ... KK ... with Andy folding.

Aces hold - and quickly to 30,000.

Card dead drift to c20,000 when I receive QQ late position ... short stack all in ... is min raised by Louise Duffy ... perhaps in retrospect I should have sussed the AA ... but I pushed ... and would have had about 5,000 left ... but Q on the flop ... takes me out in front ... I am enjoying the re-brand as a LUCKY player ...

Just before the final table I am forced off TT as an overpair which would have stood up ... but soon after 99 becomes top set and final table is reached in second place. Two short stacks - only 5 paid.

Plan is to get aggresive ... but not cards ... and Gabriel Forde assumes the dual role of Table Captain and card rack ... raising everything under the gun finally getting pushed back at when he has KK.

Soon to 7 runners and getting slightly tempted by the £462 fifth prize ... but still no cards ... so no choices to make until the bubble bursts with Andy A pushing 99 in JJ.

Money made - more scope to push - but still no cards ... and soon third with Gabriel mowing down all and sundry ...

With 2/3 of the chips in play ... looking very good for the win ... and relentlessly pushing ... finally into my AQ with Q5 ... and heads up looking good ... finally confirmed with A8 vs KQ ...

Very cagey heads up ...  K3 push called by my KJ ... putting me very much in touch.

40 mins in a flurry of hands ... I dodge his aces ... he dodges my kings ... last hand finally his A8 vs 99 ... and of course I hit the 8!

Good game ... and fair play to the winner.

Pay back - £1,550 ... less fees/cash/tip for dealers/taxi home/food/drink ... +£1,040/$1570

RT +$2,935

Good standard of play - better surrounds than the old Gutshot - will be likely to play future events there.

... I have been making more money out of my luck in running lately ...

Good fun to go toe to toe with a very good player for 40 mins.

Lots of ammo for forthcoming events!

Should really sleep now!

RT =$2,985

A bit pokered out now.

Played the £25 freeze-out at the International and made my third final table in a row (albeit small fields)

4th from 29 today when QQ loses to JJ

Won KQ vs AJ in the blinds on the Bubble ... but lost the same race just before for an earlier Bubble opportunity ... I hit three aces vs the flush.

Lots of luck flying about both ways over the last few days ... of course the biggest break QQ vs AA in the £200 freeze out.
