A return to face to face poker:

International Club tonight : £100+50 rebuy/add on - Part of Paradise Poker"s Festival.

7pm start - not sure of exact format - but should be a good structure.

Last night Martin Silke won their £200 F/O - 80 Runners.

£100+50 rebuy/add on ...

AA vs QQ defeat ... standard ... yawn ...

100/200 (25) ... early position raises to 900 ... I re-raise to 3000 ... he goes all in for 9900 ... which has me narrowly covered ... DING DING ... first card is a Queen ...

Of the 7 (Big) face to face tournaments I have played this year - I think I am 4-1 down on horror beats to be eliminated or crippled ... I may trawl my blog so see where I am on online ... feels about the same!?! Albeit there was one online event were I won everything no matter how far behind for about $1,500.

Distributions have long tails ... all you can do is stroke them and see if they purr ... right?

Interesting to view the chip counts of day 1A ... very few large stacks built (yet).

Could be a mammoth day 2.

My thoughts on day 1B tomorrow - pretty settled - obviously will need cards to stand up.

Will not be limping with weird hands ... will be pushing when in doubt.

Quite a few friends with money on me which is weird ...

Looking forward to some good cards ...

... not 99, TT and JJ ... with a load of AK flops ...

So no world title for the Honeybadger ...

Out in 46th AQ vs AK ... a real rearguard action from 4625 to 22000 but not enough cards and the wrong match ups.

Scouse raises with 44 and I re-raised with AA ... he folds
Scouse raises with AK and I re-raised with AQ ... he calls

AQ vs 44 and AA vs AK would have been nicer ...

In 7 hours play

AA - once
KK - once
QQ, JJ, TT, 99 - zero
88 - twice ... winning a 88 V AQ race
77 - twice

AK - twice

Not really enough to do any gunning ... needing luck with the chips in the middle ... Did win A7 vs KK when very priced in ...

Overall - could have played hands differently but no obvious errors made ...

Next year!

DTD ... spot on venue ...

RT - $373

Failed to qualify for the I-poker $250k

Flush draw push when short into AAA ... no improvement for either ...

Played a $50+5 turbo on Betfair - pushed KQ into A8 - and lost - almost the classic APAT hand once it gets to the shove ...

Final Table about to start and John Miller in play at 66/1 ... would be cool ...

RT - $493

In middle of $55k tournament on Pokerstars - a bit below average having lost:

KK vs J2
AK vs Q9

Minor football losses due to Cardiff failing to win at Doncaster.

Played some shocking pitch and putt including hitting a ball into a tree that never seemed to come down.

Pokerstars $55k

42nd of 324 going into the money - 2162 started.

62k vs 34k Average - 600/1200(125)

Top prize = just under $9k - classic payment curve so will need to speculate a little!

85th of 2162 in Poker Stars $55k - emlinated with AA vs QQ ... to go 17th.

What to say?

In the tournament

JJ lost to A3
KK lost to J2
AA lost to QQ
AK lost to Q9
A9 lost to J8

Pretty to tough to overcome this ...

I think my overall thought is usually of being robbed of the chance to play the rest of the tournament and not the money ... but 2009 looks like being the year I slogged away played good stuff (normally) and made nothing!

I guess the pay day comes later ... I smile at that ... but next AA vs QQ match up I will be nervous.

I have elected to sing some songs ...

E.g.

Yellow bird,
Up high in banana tree,
Yellow bird,
You sit all alone like me

Did your lady frien",
Leave de nest again?
Dat is very sad,
Make me feel so bad,
You can fly away,
In the sky away,
You"re more lucky dan me.

or

There"s a big black bear he"s a huff-puff-a-puffin"
His coat"s too heavy he"s a huff-puff-a-puffin"
Don"t get too near the huff-puff-a-puffin"
Or you won"t stay all day!

or

Noodles on a fork, noodles on a fork
Twirly wirly, twirly wirly, noodles on a fork

About to start the Betfair Eyes Wide Shut ... $50+5 buy in.

Lost a $29 heads up match to get there cheaper.

99 vs A9
A3 vs J9 defeats.

When will the worm turn?

Loads of small pairs - but not help ...

Went to York races as part of a stag do - made a few wrong marginal calls ...

(Very nice track - well worth a visit)

Played a bit of random poker 1st and 3rd from 8 runners games.

Back in Scotland now - pretty ready to sleep - looking for to the Saturday night APAT game.

Weird to be "home" - time for my official weigh in I think - then I can start my Bridget Jones-esque diary.

RT -$780 plus any in play winnings.

APAT Qualifier good fun until I ran into a bigger ace ... fair enough.

Played loose - felt ahead - was behind!

Fired up the Betfair $50+5 turbo to soothe myself.
