B.C.P.C. SEASON THREE-WEEK TWO
« on: December 20, 2009, 13:02:50 PM »
We had 20 players with 5 players absent for week 2 of the BCPC Season Two on Friday December 18th and that included 3 new players who would both go on to make the Final Table at the first attempt.
With the "Shirt Of Shame" absent this week as Will Young had run off to Cuba ( the lengths that some people will go to to get out of wearing it !) Santa had dropped a present off for the first player out and that was Marcel Furet, who will now get to wear the shirt for the first time on January 3rd at week 3.
4th place last time on his BCPC debut, Marc "M0PHEAD" Ward quickly followed Marcel and then Richard Davis too before Leader Matt McKinlay shoved all-in blind (with 2-3) and got called by Malcolm Howell with  ah  jh  and  it was off to the bar for Matt.

The two BCPC Champions then got it on but Andy Overton"s   ac   9c  was dominated by Tony Trippier"s   ah   jh  and so it was the former Champ ousting the current Champ in 16th.

It was to be a night of cruel river cards though and when Rob Hewlitt got em all-in with   9c   9d  it looked good on a board of   qh   6d   :2c:  against Malcolm Howell"s   ac   js  but the   td  turn gave Mal more outs and the   kh  river put Rob out in 15th place.

There was no getting away from the next big confrontation when Debjani Duncan held   ad1   kc  agains newbie Harry Ward"s   qh   qd  but there was no help this time for Deb and so it was a 14th place finish.

Ant Williams was a big favourite with his   td   ts   when he called Steve Bayliff"s shove after a long dwell. "Scouse"  showed the monster that is   kd   9h  but a    ks   kept him alive and left Ant to feel the Gods were against him. Earlier these two had got it all-in and Ant turned over aces......only to see that the dealer had put all of the discarded cards back into the pack and so the hand was declared dead ! Fair play to Ant though as it was an honest mistake and he took it with total class and in the spirit that the BCPC is played in.

That left us with 12 players but Tony T then ran   kh   jd   into Paul Foy"s   ac   ad1  to lose a 7k pot and soon after would get it all-in 3 ways with the same hand.
Tony held   kd   js  new Online World Champion Tod Wood, who had recovered from 300 chips somehow, was also involved with   9c   9h  while impressive new boy Nathan Harris held   :as:   kh  . The board came down

qh   qd   th   ts  to give EVERYONE hope, although Tod was set for a monster treble-up as he prayed for NO PAINT......BUT.......the  kc  river gave Nathan the monster pot and sent us to the Final Table.

The next killer river came on a flop of   :2s:   js   :3d:  . Steve Freer though he was ahead with his   tc   :3c:  although when the   qs  came on the turn it slowed everyone down. The river came   td  to give Steve 2-pair but it was possibly the worst card for Steve as he couldn"t get away from Mal Howell"s bet and Mal showed   :as:   kh  for the straight.

First casualty on the FT was Scouse when his   :as:   kh  got called by our 3rd newbie in Clive Padden with               :3c:   :3s:  and the   :3h:  on the flop sealed the deal.

Pocket-three"s became the signature-hand of the night as soon after Brian Yates held  :3c:   :3d:  and made the call when short-stack Steve Freer shoved with his   jd   th  and that saw Steve exit in 9th.

So when Andy Duncan looked down at  :3h:   :3s:  he happily shoved and was surprised to get called by such a seemingly weak hand as Harry Ward"s   kd   qc  but a   kh  on the flop made it 3rd tim UN-lucky for pocket-three"s and Andy left in 8th to score 3 points, which would maintain his 3rd place in the League table.

Paul Foy exited in 7th when his   ad   5c  was no match for Nathan"s "monster"   js   :3s:  and then Maxine McKinlay was unhappy with Malcolm Howell"s play in calling her shove with his   ah   4d  . Maxine had   :as:   kc  and was even more dismayed when Malc turned the straight !

Malc was now gaining momentum but it was Nathan who was a monster chip-leader after Harry shoved with           ac   qs  and  he snap-called with   ad   ah  but a great opening performance from Mr Ward senior.

Down to just 6 BB"s, Brian shoved on the button with   :2s:   qs  and Nath woke up with   ad1   :as:  .....AGAIN.....so it was 4th place and 8 points for Brian, although he extends the Club record for consecutive games without a cash to 10.

Clive Padden was the next to shove and Malc decided to make a marginal call with   4h   4c  . Clive was amazed to see his hand of   5d   6d  had TWO overcards but they failed to hit and so it was a creditable 3rd for Clive and 10 points.

Heads-Up and Nathan and Malc were relatively even until a hand developed on a flop of   :2d:   5c   7d.  Nath shoved all-in with his   6d   6s  and Malc called for his tourney as a 52% favourite with   jd   td  but the   9c  made him a 2-1 underdog until he was saved by the   jc  on the river to leave him outchipping Nathan by over 4-1.

The end was near and when Nath shoved with   kd   :2h:  Malc had an easy call with   ah   th   and that proved enough to give Malcolm Howell his 2nd BCPC victory and leave Nathan Harris with a £60 runners-up consolation prize plus 12 points.
