Your team"s honours may be more high-profile, Nigel, but I doubt they have won as wide a variety of competitions as the most successful Southern club outside of London, the only team to hold the FA Cup for 7 years (1939-1946):

Football League Champions 1949, 1950
FA Cup Winners 1939, 2008, 2010
FA Charity Shield Winners 1949 (Shared)
FA Cup Runners-up 1929, 1934
Football League First Division Champions 2003
Football League Second Division Runners-up 1927, 1987
Football League Third Division Champions 1962, 1983
Football League Third Division (South) Champions 1924
Barclays Asia Trophy Winners 2007
Southern League First Division Champions 1902, 1920
Southern Charity Cup Winners 1903
Wartime Cup Runners-Up 1942
Southern Professional Floodlit Cup Winners 1958
Western Football League Champions 1901, 1902, 1903
South Western League Champions 1916
South Hants War League Champions 1918
Hampshire Charity Cup Winners 1906, 1907
Hampshire FA Benevolent Fund Cup Joint Winners 1909
Hants Professional Cup Winners 1935, 1982
Hants Combination Cup Winners 1933, 1941
Hants Benevolent Cup Winners 1911
Pickford Cup Winners 1914, 1915, 1921, 1924, 1926, 1928, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1936
Hospital Cup Winners 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1929, 1930, 1933, 1934, 1935

thats some mighty Google action John. I almost missed your 2010 FA cup success as well...lol

Goes to show that chelsea fans dont quite understand "real history"
Fair enough, they have won some trophies recently, and dont get me wrong, they are a very good team. But the last 20 years or so does not really count as historical achivements IMO.

And as a Chelsea fan, i wonder if you are ashamed to have Drogba on your side? He rolls around every time he gets tackled, his outburst last season infront of a live camera, and spitting the dummy everytime he doesnt get his own way, like when lampard wouldnt let him take a penalty. Selfish and Childish.

Imo those who live in the past and harp on about their history have in inferior complex about the future.

Ashamed to have the best strike record in the prem......no way. I dont recall him getting booked for diving unlike other players have had this season.

Agree, I was screeming for him to be taken off at half time on sunday. he was obviously put straight at the break....and very glad I am too.

Standard comeback when someone is having their day in the sun.   Let"s see if the "history" extends itself to be anywhere near as long as some other clubs when Abramovich gets bored and doesn"t want to spend his pocket money on the best footballers any more.

More than half of Chelsea"s success has come in the last 10 years - those who say they haven"t bought their success is perhaps being short sighted.

As for the future - yes things are bleak at Anfield right now, and the future is uncertain...... BUT, the ground will be sold out for every league game despite the poor form.  I remember going to Stamford Bridge in the 80s, and the ground was half empty for a league match...... I guess the fans didn"t realise they had a Russian billionaire on the way to buy them some "history".

Let"s keep this civilised.   ;)

Credit where credits due, Chelsea has been the better team this season, and although the Abramovich money has built that team, it"s not that simple to buy your way to a title, or even a Champions League spot.  Just ask the blue half of Manchester.

The only worrying thing is that Liverpool are in a mess, and I genuinely believe Man Utd"s finances are worse than the board let on.  It would appear Ars3nal are one of the top teams that are being run okay at the moment without the need for a very wealthy owner.

Which clubs other than Chelsea and Man City do you think will spend big this summer ?

I don"t think many of the others actually can, perhaps Spurs might on the back of their Champs League slot, but they have quite a bit of debt don"t they ?

.....and of the ones that matter, just four league titles and no European Cups (or even the much easier champion"s league version)

Also, interesting to note how much of the club"s success has come since Abramovich bought his cheque book, not that I"m suggesting Chelski bought their success....

I think you"ll find  Steve, that the two European cup winner cups are indeed cups we won in Europe.

With a net spend of about £23M this season, plenty have spent more than us and have a big fat zero to show for it.

Ok lets give some praise where its due,

Spurs under Harry have had a wonderfull season

and Fulham"s run in Europe should have earned Roy Hodgson manager of the year and hopefully they will bring the cup back.

Lots of records set this season. In particular, congratulations go to:

- Hull City, for having a record 22 different players booked;

- Burnley, for becoming the first team in Premier League history to lose 17 away games in a season;

- Stilian Petrov, for having had more shots without scoring (37) than any player in the Premier League this season;

- Everyone, for conceeding 43 own goals - a new record;

- Wayne Bridge for making 47 crosses this season without seeing a single one reach a team-mate;

- Spurs, for extending their sequence of not having won at Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool or Ars3nal since August 1993 to 67 games;

- Own goals, Manchester United"s joint second top scorer (12 = double the previous record) after Wayne Rooney;

- Sunderland, for becoming the first side to have 9 players sent off in a single Premier League season;

- Richard Dunne, for increasing the number of own goals he has scored to 7, more than any other Premier League player in the history of the competition;

- Kevin Davies for once again committing the most fouls, which he has achieved in six of the last seven years, his total of 121 this season being his highest ever.
