  • TI - 3 days before Ger arrives (if indeed he is coming): 17th - 19th

  • Harrahs: 20th - 26th

  • Venetian: 27th - 29th (Just because I can use up some points)

  • Orleans: 29th - 6th - This is, like, 8 nights which feels like a lot so I might consider moving again to...

  • A.N.Other hotel

Ger is still looking at 7 nights (can"t degen any longer) arriving 20th - so when you pull the trigger let me know.

I"m probably going to be taking it a little easier this time...it"s a long trip after all and I have to pace myself.

Not that we won"t find some interesting things to do over that week.

I already have an invite to the studios of the Vegas Video Network to attend a taping which could be fun.

Insofar as this is an "old folks" trip (unless Ger and I get some other attendees) I can"t see we"ll be hitting the clubs but some off-strip activities (of the food & drink variety) might be in order.

TI and Harrahs are booked.
Venetian will be booked shortly.
Orleans probably for 5 nights.

I"m dwelling on the Excal for the last three nights. Cheap as chips and within comfortable walking distance (for me) to NYNY and the MGM.

Travel Champion,

Some friends and I will be in Vegas in September and are thinking of going to a fight (a proper Queensbury Rules affair, WBC and all that). Do you have any experience of such an event over there or would your tip be find a casino and watch it on the big screen whilst trying to figure (getting practice in) out if the Texan has the nuts?

I don"t have an personal experience of attending a big fight in Vegas (or anywhere else for that matter).

My best advice would be to target a specific event. Once you have decided, you can decide for yourself whether it"s worth actually attending remembering that these are usually held in LARGE arenas.

Without knowing for certain, I would imagine that most Vegas sportsbooks will have it showing on a large screen although you might have to book seats as they are likely to see a lot of traffic on that night. It would be worth giving the sportsbook a call and just asking them if they will be showing it.

Failing that, there are multitudes of bars on and off the strip that will probably have it on. Not on a 40ft screen of course but good enough.

For myself I would prefer to watch it on a big screen with valet service and a handy restroom nearby but then I"m old, fat and lazy.

Thanks for that Paulie - the areana"s do look huge and not sure how much of the fight we"d see for a lot of $"s - may take your tip and head to a bar instead!

Have you not thought combining the Orleans with the Gold Coast? Keeps you off-strip around NYE.

I"ll be off-strip for NYE....I"ll be in the Orleans from 30th - 3rd.

If I do the Excal it will be 4th - 6th.

Hmmm....McMullans for NYE...could be fun. :)

Hmmm...I now have a short-list (irony) of 15 establishments that might be worth a visit while Ger is in town.

So much of pacing myself.

This could take some work.

I wasn"t suggesting that we hit them all in one night but there is enough variety there to keep us busy over a few days/nights.
