Quiet few days on poker front other than a $22 MTT on 888 last night, where I got busted out 8 before the cash with AK on a K high rainbow flop. Trapped fishy villain perfectly, check shoved after he bet 1k into a 2k pot, he called for his last 8.2k with open end and yeah, of course, I hit my 2nd pair on the river  :(

Tuesday night had a visit to the Glasgow ABC to see the legend that is Gary Numan. Always a pleasure to see my all time hero on stage, lost count of how many times I"ve seen him since my first ever gig in 1980. A great set-list highlighting his new album Dead Son Rising but with a few surprises in the form of old Tubeway Army tracks from their first album and a B Side I don"t think I"ve ever heard live before.

Supported by Jayce Lewis, who commented he"d made it all the way to Glasgow from South Wales......what a shocker that was after the recent Scottish APAT :o  :D  :D

Chatting to Cap"n Gerry on FB, reminded myself of stooopid (but fun) stuff I"ve done over the years (normally alcohol fuelled).

Circa 20 years ago on way home from a Friday after work drinking session got stopped by a group of "Jakeys" (Glasgow Alcoholic Nomads) at the bottom of Hope Street, one of them enquiring to me whether or not i could spare a quid for a pint for Christmas. "You"ve not had a pint for Christmas, that"s shocking" I replied..."come on guys follow me". So I duly took the 6 of them into the local Denholms Bar, found a large round table at the back of the pub, asked them all what they were drinking, then walked straight back out the pub without ordering  :D

That"s LOL mental.....

Just had 2 stinkers on 888 $33 tourney, standard of play just dreadful. Blinds 15/30, A/10 on button raise and called in 4 places, flop A/10/4 rainbow checked round to me I bet 2/3 pot and get 2 callers. 8 on turn same play but only 1 caller, 2 on river and binked by villain with 3/5os ffs.

1480 chips left, Next level with AA raise in EP to 150, re-raised to 525 by next to act, called by SB and I ship my stack....both call with JJ and A2suited. JJ hit nothing, A2 hit a flush  >:( .

In the red corner - Not been playing much this week, busy DIY"ing unfortunately and seems to be a never ending job. In work currently and got more shifts through most of the week so don"t see much poker being played this week either.

In the blue corner - Yesterdays Team Glasgow event was fantastic, great to see people making the effort from other areas to join us, including a group of 8 from Dumfries and Galloway, some from Tayside, Lothian, Ayrshire and South Lanarkshire. Pretty sure other commitments and poor weather resulted in a few not making the event, but the 38 who came along all had a great time and played in the right spirit. Well done to Neil Paterson for taking this down, winning almost £500 and a rather small trophy  :D Hope we can do it all again sometime and maybe even make the mini Team Glasgow an annual tournament. The Stanley Mint looked after us really well so hats off to them as well  8)

Still DIY"ing for Britain unfortunately, bit of a Forth Rail Bridge scenario going on once bathroom was finished.......obv the rest of the house needs doing now  :D

Managed a couple of online MTTs in past couple of nights. Friday night finished 15th in 240 runner $11, very strange ending to the game though  ??? Had a blind v blind confrontation when I was 15/15 with around 6 BBs at 800/1600 level with antes........with a  9d  6c  :3c: flop and  7c  4c in my hand, the SB checked to me and I happily shipped them in as probable favourite. SB very strangely called my over pot bet with  qh  5h and of course I missed everything to lose out to the Q high  >:(

Last night in same MTT kinda got caught up with a short stack at 100/200 + antes and 5.8k chips, decided to take him on with his 4th preflop shove in a row for 1.25k when already in the BB with 8/8. He flips JK and hit K on river, could"ve probably avoided it tbh but hey ho. Ended up card dead for a while after and no real spots to steal or even see a flop with a decent starting hand. Went out 50th when my AJ ran into the mighty A6 in LP and you can guess the rest  :D

Work today till 7pm then look forward to the Online league game 11 at 8pm...............and no doubt be back at the DIY again by 8.30pm  :P

Been doing so much DIY lately that I"m now starting to look even more distressed than the reclaimed wood I"m working with  :(

Looking forward to Luton so much now, should be a fantastic weekend and think I deserve this one more than ever.

Been much the same last 2 nights and jobs just seem to get more gruesome. Picture the wee round guy on top of a set of ladders with a very long extendable roller pole trying to paint a 18ft high stairwell ceiling, not a pretty sight and very bloody scary into the bargain  :o Thankfully that job"s done now and onto glossing the staircase bannister. Glad to be in work over next 4 days to get a rest  ;D

Just recalling some more stoooopid stuff I"ve done and had a wee chuckle. Went through a spell of bluejacking people when bluetooth became widely available and a couple of the more memorable ones were....

1/ sending a message from ucg.co.uk to anyone who"d been daft enough to leave their bluetooth on, while seated in Odeon cinema with ads running awaiting the start of Casino Royale......Congratulations, you"ve won 2 tickets to see Casino Royale at any UCG Cinema

2/ sending a message from oneill.co.uk while sitting in an O"Neill"s bar in Merchant Sq in Glasgow.......Congratulations you"ve won a free pint of Caffreys at any O"Neills, just show this text to redeem from out bar staff.

Annie Apple had a good laugh in the cinema as a few folk in their seats close by were displaying the first message to whoever was seated with them, sahme they"d already just paid for their tickets at the rival Odeon. The latter gave me and my mates a fair bit of amusement in the pub, as 2 guys did just that, only to leave the barmaid as preplexed as they were staring at mobile phones without a clue what they were on about ;D

Really sad and embarrasing day for Rangers with John Grieg quitting. The new owners should hang their heads in shame, disrespecting a man who"s given his life and shown loyalty and dignity they"ll never even imagine  >:(

So guess what? My DIY"ing is finally complete  :) ..........for now at least  :D. Bathroom done, cupboards rebuilt, spare room finito and hall stairwell redecorated. Those last 2 have the small matter of new carpet to put down but Luton here we come . Only one more sleep and can"t wait. Was determined to get that hall finished before we leave and doubted it for quite a while due to the number of coats required to change all the wood from magnolia cream to chestnut brown. Glad it"s over and laying the carpets will seem like a stroll now...............when we get home!!!

See you in Luton tomorrow night, looking forward to catching up with you all.

Loved being part of the APAT Forum Team in Luton and had a superb time. Slightly deflated at the end when we just didn"t get the luck needed to squeeze enough points for the team tourney and Ian just missed out on a victorious end to a fantastic tournament.

For my part it all started really well on day 1, first hand i recall was calling a raise from Ross Johnson (Roscopiko) with  7s 9s on button,  5s 6c 9c flop then  9h 7d turn and river....nice  :)

Soon after raised in MP with  jh jd called by Betfair"s gnasher in SB and check called by him on  tc  td  4d  flop (with his 4th flopped trip tens in first 2 levels or so). VEry pleased to see  jc on turn  ;) and think I got got paid off with value raises on river with both hands.

Hit the heady heights of 20k then went card dead for hours and table got a bit more aggro 3 seats to my right once the table balancing started. Spent ages just hoping to get some reasonable hand to play with and got a steady stream of 8/3, 7/2, 9/2 etc etc. The one that hit me hardest was with  9d td, called by Alan Lake, who check called 2.6k with a lovely flop of  ad1 kd 6d so things were looking up till the  qd landed and I found myself down to 6.5k when paying off Alan on the river with his  jd qh  :"(

Got one double up then dropped back to 8k, again with no spots or cards to play but crucially got a treble up late on Saturday night against Ant and Dan when my QQ held up against AQ and Mr Owston"s mighty 9/2........glad and surpised to have made it to day 2 with 23.5k and into the top 50 for team points.

With BB at 2k on Sunday it was never gonna be a poker game for me if I couldn"t get chips fairly early, shoved behind a raise with 8/8 and got to my highest of around 32k then frustrated having to fold open shoving hands behind a raise and 3 bet/shove on 3 occasions with BB at 3k (my 4/4 would"ve housed on river  :D ), busted out not long after when my AK v 99 fizzled out on a very raggy board and finished in 25th place and 26 points for the team.

Well done to each and every one of our team, particularly Phil, who like me was just clawing and grinding his way through the points with fewer chips and definitely took a few for the team. He got very unlucky when all in with AQ v A6 down to around 30 players, but again had luck against him when he had to chop with a double paired board  ::)

What can I say about Ian Thompson, other than I wish I"d had his cards, his skill and his good looks. Great performance mate, shame it was Silver in the end but gotta be happy with how you played. Fantastic preformance from him, also from individual winner Nick, those who cashed and Rob"s Gambling Network Team winners  8)

And to everyone else who played and contributed in the APAT spirit, I tip my hat to you all, including Des and Rich working as hard as ever and Emma and Bridget for looking after Annie Apple on her first ever APAT/poker excursion.

And a few memories to round it off...
Great casino and staff

Friday at the Luton Home Game.........JP and Ian, looking good

The magnificent 7..............and me

Starting day 2 with my small bag of chips, usually I opt for the large bag with brown sauce and black pudding
