I haven"t been but the On The River Club in Grays may suit (heh).

If you are willing to travel a bit..see London Poker Meetup which is my primary group..the linked page has a list of other venues.

There was the Jennings Poker School up near Stansted but their Weblink appears to be dead...Anyone know what happened...a victim of recent legislation perhaps?

Yup, they were operating out of the social club at Bishops Stortford Football Club but their legal team advised them that they wouldn"t atually be able to make any money under the new legislation, given the restrictions on fee that can be charged and maximum prize that can be offered by any venue operating under the clasue that would apply to them (the Riley"s model I guess). So they knocked it on the head.

A great shame, as just before this decision was made I had heard that there was a possibility they might extend their operation to the social club at another football club on some of their non-Bishops Stortford nights.

Not exactly a card room but the Westcliff casino in Southend has a good card room. Just had a complete refit as well.

Also Equal Chance in Walthamstow

I live in Witham and run a home game every other week if you"re interested? looking to start a monthly tournament locally although I do play on the first Tuesday of every month in Chelmsford where there is now an average of 50 players in a 10 pound rebuy tournament.  This is fairly well organised and the closest you can get to any card room or casino.
