Sent to Coventry!

When dropping a few hints to the other half about a little weekend away playing poker in early April I wasn"t sent to Coventry but instead was given a pass to Coventry. So, my seat is booked and an unexpected outing to the first APAT event of season six is on the cards. Result.

Looking forward to hopefully meeting some of my East of England team members for the online league. It"s going to be my first season in this league and am expecting some beginners luck! Not sure who or how many of them are going, but if I don"t find them maybe they"ll try to find me.

I was short stacked in the $0.55 Turbo game on PokerStars having lost a fair amount of chips when my KJ was beaten by KT. K on the flop, T on the river!

I went out on this hand:

Jiggy914: folds
IziCash: folds
jaro1231: raises 300 to 450
Heidi16: folds
Gansao: folds
bubo1111: folds
thinsy: raises 644 to 1094 and is all-in
jaro1231: calls 644

*** FLOP *** Js 10c Jd
*** TURN *** Ah
*** RIVER *** Kd

*** SHOW DOWN ***
thinsy: shows Kh Qs (a straight, Ten to Ace)
jaro1231: shows Jh Jc (four of a kind, Jacks)

Want To Make A Profit At Online Poker? Then Go For The Win!

I"ve just been having a look at my OPR stats and have noticed, so far, my results for March 2012 show a healthy ITM of 31%

This sounds good but then I looked at my ROI which shows -37%

I guess min-cashing isn"t a worthwhile goal.

Homework for the rest of the month............. Work on my "Mid-to-Late" Tournament Strategy!

Another Good Run....

Just had another deep(ish) run in a PokerStars event:

Finished 311/12612.

I won 4.45x my original buy-in.

Oh, nearly forgot to mention it was a whopping $0.55 buy-in?  :P

Not Another Min Cash!

So, I played Saturday"s "Big $4.40" and ran pretty good.

My first boost of chips came when my 88 v AJ v AK held up.
A bit later I called a raise with 77 against another big stack. I flopped a set, he paired the river, I got paid.

At one point I was aprox 40/3900ish.

Then I had three run-ins with the same player who was constantly making bad calls but sometimes getting lucky. And, according to O.P.R. he is a massively losing player:

AK v JJ: I hit a K on the flop, he rivered a flush.
88 v QT: He hit a T.

And he eventually knocked me out with:

JJ v KQ: The flop came QQx to give him a set.

I finished 896/9326 for $8.57

Maybe one day soon I will get my big win?!?!

Omaha HL Novice

Decided to break away from the usual Hold-Em tournaments tonight and entered the MM-42, $5.50 Omaha HiLo on PokerStars.

I know how to play Omaha HL. Well, what I mean by that is I can work out what the best hand is at given points in a hand! I played fairly loose early on, got some chips, then gave them away and eventually won some back!

I finished 1209/6215 which wasn"t in the money but at least a $5.50 loss makes it a cheap night!

I did have a PokerStars Pro (Goral) on my table who played very few hands (about twelve in two hours) but he had a good stack of chips by the time I was out! However, another player was playing a lot more hands and getting a lot more chips so I"m still not sure whether tight or loose is the best way forward?!?!

Maybe I"ll play it again............. In about three months!  :P

*** BEWARE - TILT POST ***

I don"t often rage against the cards that are dealt but of late I seem to be getting the worst of it!

In the Online League I"m pretty confident that I have not gone out of one game from being behind!

Tonight"s exit was AA v TT with a T on the flop!

Ok. Fine... No need to panic I"m running pretty good in one of the SCOOP events, now I can concentrate on that. Right?

Sitting 806/12089 with about 41K I get 55 and run into JJ but manage to only lose about 9K.

Hold on all is fine my KJ has hit a J7x flop. An easy call against a short stack shove who has a 7, then comes the 7 on the turn!

The last hand I had AT sooted, I raise and get a call..... AKx flop, I"m all-in, K9 calls..... 9 on the turn!!

RANT OVER!!

Yes very unlucky runnings. Not sure if i was the one who had the 10"s v your AA. I was defo sitting on your left when you departed.

With regards to the HiLo, playing fewer hands is defo for +ev.  Especially in tourneys. It does seem very difficult when you have a few oppo"s who are relatively new to the game and call any bets pre flop. There as in any poker variant the more oppo"s you face a good chance you will get beat. This even moreso in Omaha variants as each player(with a good hand anyway), is actually playing 6 hands. so 3 oppo"s is like playing against 18 players at Hold'em. If you don"t have it, chances are somebody else will( Not a good bluffing spot).

Sorry if I"m teaching you to suck eggs, hope it helps some though. :)

Yes it was you.... I hate you! Lol.

With regards to Omaha.... Any advice is welcome. I only play omaha in our local weekly cash game which is full of guys who call down everything! It seems that I"ve managed to pick a few bad habits up from them....

Have had time to think about my "unlucky" poker moments and managed to get over it!

I know my game isn"t perfect and even if I was "less unlucky" I would have probably made mistakes somewhere in the tournament. So, I won"t be blaming online poker sites for "rigging" games but will be playing a bit less for a while, spend some time analysing various situations and come back stronger....... Hopefully!

So it seems babycare is more demanding than I imagined!!
Hence the lack of blog input....

Despite this I still wouldn"t change fatherhood for world.

Alexis was 4 weeks old on Wednesday and doing great.

Now to the APAT Staking......

I"ve just applied for my "licence" and hope it won"t get refused!

I"m not sure when i"ll get round to posting but at least I"ve made the first step. Even if I don"t post anything or get any successful backers I couldn"t think of anywhere better than APAT to make a £10 donation.

Ulitimatelly my dream would be to get frequent backers for the bigger live tournaments to help reduce my own costs and expences but realise that won"t happen overnight, so i"ll start with a few small online MTTs. Then maybe a few smaller live events before making myself and my backers into millionaires!

Wish me luck...
