To smell the streets of Liverpool?
« on: January 12, 2008, 02:43:00 AM »
I had to just post this now cause I"ll forget if I leave it until morning.  Is the saying "to smell the streets of Liverpool" - to mean to bust out of a tournament - a legitimate poker saying?  Or a saying in any other card game?  I think I just dreamt it, but now I"m not sure.  With all due respect to those from Meeerzey-side, it sort of sounds appropriate.  Perhaps if it"s not poker vernacular, (which it probably isn"t really is it) we can all adopt it?

I can see it thirty years from now listed in the glossary of the definitive Poker Encyclopedia -- "The origins of this phrase are disputed though it is widely recognised it was coined by the WSOP Main Event champion of 2008 who dreamt it after eating too much Marmite."
