Poker still sucks.

I received a picture message from young Stuart over the weekend. A photograph had been taken of his pint, the caption read Ger says you paid for this. Thanks.

Sigh

Poker since Thursday included the G £100 monthly in which I had a 100% record for flopping sets and getting a full double up when holding a pocket pair.
11 x 30 minute levels, one pair.
One x AK, I 3bet, he flats, we check down a horribly wet no A no K board and both turn over AK.
One x KQ flopped AJ10hh. I c-bet he folds.
Exited with a BvB shove of K9 where he has A10

Eventually I get a seat on the cash table and continue my flopping of sets and straights but with higher frequency and with better results and ended up £250

Sunday G £15+£15 I bust first bullet just before the break and re-enter. It"s all going rather well and my Hijack cut off and button raises are getting through or getting serious resistance until... I open J4hh and flop J94xxh. I get check called and decide to get in on the 7 flop.
villain has 44...

Eventually I get a seat on the cash table... Run golden in the extreme. It"s a .25/.50 table and seeing flops and playing post is huge fun some nights. Especially when you run like....
I call pre with J5ss and flop J55....
Won some proper pots too with proper hands including the very satisfying chunk from one of the old Gala regs whoever my 3bet with QJ and probably liked the look of the q1010 flop. But not as much as I did since I had QQ....

Lost a horrible one with QQ when I cold 4bet over a £3.50/£14 to £38. Was surprised to be flatted there from c£100, but we got it in on the AJx flop vs ..... AJ... He checked the flop and since he isn"t flatting AA pre I c-bet and called him off.
Meh

Ended up £220 from a peak of c£350 ip

An interesting week

Didn"t play much poker till Thursday when I had a spin at the £10rb at G. It"s guaranteed at £1000 with a minimum of 8 runners and this week, with Thursday also being Valentines Day it got just 14. Between us we managed to put £560 in the pot with me contributing way too much of it at £70. I rationalised this on the basis that I would pay £70 to be part of a 14 runner tourney with £1000 in the pool. Probably not wise, but I thought I had a decent shot at the prizes given the field. Finished 7th so outside the money.

Had a trip to London to visit Dad on Saturday and spent some decent time with him. Taught him how to upload photos from his camera and hopefully how to email them once he"s got them on the pc.
Took a bus ride and had a walk and eventually got to my room at the Victory Services Club just off the Edgeware Road around 6.30. For those who don"t know of it, the VSC is run for serving and ex-military folks but members can book rooms for guests. It"s very near to Marble Arch and rather economical in terms of London prices. My single room with shared facilities was £59.50 for the Saturday at the start of half-term which seemed pretty good.
Being near Marble Arch, and just off the Edgeware Road means it"s also rather close to the home of British Poker,The Vic so it was inevitable that I should spend my Saturday night there.
The £50 FO went poorly - too many pairs and AK/AQ hands that missed flops totally and I was out before the break.
The £1/£1 cash table went better. I left at sometime around 0415 with an extra £330 in my pocket. A fun table with a lot of players who kept allowing me to "get there" and then paying me off on the river.
Had only one hand that meant I had to make a really tough decision and posted it over on Blonde - I"ll C&P it here for more views when this is complete.
Sunday Lunch at the Royal Chelsea Hospital and then the train home via a stop over in Peterborough to pick up my 12yr old Granddaughter (I know, hard to believe I"m old enough isn"t it?) and arrived home in time to pop to the G. It was too late for the Sunday tourney but the cash game opened not long after 8 this week and I was the benficiary of some random bluffs by a fella who sat with £100 and seemed intent on losing it.
I"d missed out on the other donor"s presence, he played two hands, the first where he 3bet  Qh 4h and called a shove for £50 vs kings. Flop was  4d 8h 6h for a sweat for the lad who held the KK but our man reloaded and managed to double back up with his second £50 and then left.
The table had settled when Brian came down to say there was a £12 SnG being run with a seat to the Monthly £100 on offer. They were short of runners and I was eventually persuaded to join in and we played it as a £15 x 9handed with a seat for first and £25 for second.
Key hands en route to a win included outdrawing Brian (with KQ vs ?? i was too embarrassed to remember)
Winning a 3way all in where I shipped the button with A6 over a hijack raise with around 8 BBs and got there on the river to beat 88 and QQ
After that hand I had a proper stack and eventually three handed I had 65% of the chips and was shoving button and SB with pretty much any cards. Eventually I took out the second stack when he shipped A6 from the button into my AK and sealed the win with K2>>A2

A fun weekend of poker really, with the added joy of seeing Dad and getting some time with Granddaughter

Irritating Tourney Exit #372

£10rb, 6 left, 4 prizes.
I"ve recovered from a moment of madness where I managed to reduce myself to just over 4bb with KQ

In case you missed it - DTD have shifted to iPoker and are running the satellites to the upcoming Grand Prix on the new site.

Winning a satellite gets you a Golden Chip and the chance to take a trip with them to St Kitts. I did ok in these tournaments last year...

Oh, and yes, I have a Golden Chip!

But the format is slightly changed this year with online Day Ones as well as two live - 10% of the field go through to Day 2 which will play to the finish.
If you are part of the 10% but have only a bowl left you can choose to sacrifice those chips and have another go at a Day 1, so I"m in the hunt for more!
Second today for £48 which at least funds a few more goes.

Binked a deepstack seat last night for the DTD £150k this weekend
My third attempt, but managed to get in each time for between £4.20 and £6.20 and one attempt didn"t cost extra because I"m an idiot.
I was out, waiting for a cash game to start at the G and having won a token for the satellite I decided to sit and play on the card table using my laptop.
Late regged and chipped up as we approached the add-on break I was rather pleased not to have needed the rb. Then, just as the three minute add-on break started my laptop screen went black because I hadn"t plugged the power supply in...
By the time I was back online the opportunity to add 10,000 chips had gone and I had dropped from a pretty comfortable spot to being in the mire.
Eventually exited when my, slightly tilty, UTG shove with AJ was called by AQ

One last try last night and after a pretty awful run of cards i clung on to my stack like it was golden and played literally two hands in two hours doubling up both times 77>A7 and QQ>99. The countdown was on and with 51 left a player on another table was all in for
