hi_am_chris:
What do people play in their home games? any interesting variations of poker? Cash games or sit and gos??

Not had a home game for ages. We got a bit fed up cos we only had 4 or 5 every week and it got a little "stale".

We used to play NLHE tournies. 100 chips, 1/2 blinds doubling every 20 mins. We based it on a Prima SnG, which was all we knew at the time.

Play down the local now every Sunday afternoon/night (and occasionally through til dawn if it"s a bank holiday  ;D - it"s like a home game - between 6 and 12 players generally the same faces but occasionally some fresh blood just to keep it interesting. We play a NLHE cash game so people can come and go as they choose. Most sit down with £40 and the blinds are £0.25/£0.50 nominally (I say nominally because a hefty raise won"t shift a lot of the fishier players and it"s not unusual to have a pre-flop pot of £12-15 with 5 or 6 players in it  :-\ Can"t knock it though as I"m about £800 up over the last 2 months  ;D

Anyone in the west Leicestershire area PM me if you"re interested in joining us.

We have a league of 8 players (3 APAT members) playing two tournaments a month - usually on the same night/morning, scoring points for an end of season pay out.

The game is no limit holdem, starting stack of 10,000 chips and blinds start at 100/200 going up every 30 mins.

Each tourney usually lasts between 3.5 and 4 hours, depending on who I get heads up with at the end  ;D

We play NLHE... We  tend to start with loads of chips and low blinds.. But as the time goes up the we double the blinds. So you get lots of play in the 1st hour, but after that you can get really short stacked. This makes the game last about 2 and a hlf hours max.

We do this because you can go out first hand, its a home game, its for fun and you want to get them back in and start another...

We used to just play freezouts, four or five thousand chips each blinds up every fifteen mins starting at 25 50. Cheap and cheerfull, now we usually do rebuys for an hour and a half, it can be more fun and usually puts a bit more money in the pot than the freezouts. We tried cash games but most people just want to play cheap tournys and not lose 25 quid plus in a nite
