If APAT members had wanted to do a £20 + £2 self-deal SNG, that can only represent a profit to Aspers, but it wasn"t an option. Perhaps there were legal issues but, AFAIK, we were just denied.

yep tried this, and was given a flat refusal - apparently it would be against casino policy.

we ended up with a dealer dealt private cash game. for that, we were charged half price rake (5% instead of 10%, but still capped at £5 - so actually no benefit), and had to pay an additional £1 from every raked pot into the local"s rake race.

At the time it felt that Aspers had done us a favour - in fact it was a bloody expensive favour!!

Regarding  games and structures I thought overall it was all pretty spot on, only gripe was PLO8 and PLO where both in conjunction with ME days.. I know most Omaha fans would love to play these both over the festival, but if you want to play ME you have to give one up??  Surely it would be better to perhaps hold one of the other events like Razz or Stud on one of the ME days?

I have to disagree with Carl to a certain extent here.

From a personal standpoint I was more than happy to not play the main event to play both PLO & PLO8 especially this was the first (AFAIK) official APAT PLO8 event. I"d been asking for a PLO8 event for some time and was very happy to see it included in the WCOAP.

Missing the ME was not a concern for me.

I was slightly disappointed that Aspers had a policy of no self-deal though. I can understand the reasoning (mostly) but many other casinos APAT have visited have allowed this albeit with some negotiation as to table/card "rental" and chip stacks.

If APAT members had wanted to do a £20 + £2 self-deal SNG, that can only represent a profit to Aspers, but it wasn"t an option. Perhaps there were legal issues but, AFAIK, we were just denied.

Just interested though Paulie would you of played the ME if the 2 Omaha variants where not clashing with it?

Never...I"m not folding so why should I worry? )

I only had a certain amount of time &/or money to invest in the WCOAP so it was an easy decision. I"m more into 2+ cards than HE these days (and have been for some time) so APAT main events (whether WCOAP or "normal" APAT weekends) don"t appeal quite so much.

At any standard APAT event, I"d much rather play an "alternative" event on Saturday and a "side" event on Sunday than a ME.

I appreciate that this isn"t for everyone but adding more options on a Friday / Saturday would make it more of a weekend for me.

Obviously the HE hardcore purists would disagree but I"d rather see a 150 seat ME and a 50 seat PLO8 event on Saturday than just a 200 seat ME.

Anyway, that"s just me...probably because I"m not very good at Hold"Em. :)
