Gone first hand. That bluff would obviously have been for a lot of chips. If it had got through, who knows where the story would have ended. For those who don"t know, Sean is a brother of Brendan Byrne, one of APAT's longest-standing and most popular regulars, though Sean appears to be a much better player.

I can"t see that anyone else from our teams made it into the cash.

It"s all action in the Super Seniors, for players aged 65+:

- "Don Vanke limps from middle position and gets three callers, including both blinds."

- "A player limps from middle position into Paul Magriel"s big blind. He checks his option. The flop comes XXX and both players check."

- "A player limps from middle position into Jacquelyn Scott"s big blind. She checks her option. The board runs out XXXXX, both players checking the whole way."

And best of all:

- "Roy Swanson says he won a pot, but he doesn"t remember how. "I don"t know, they just pushed the pot to me," he says."

Vanke, Magriel, Scott and Swanson

Remember this from last week? Ramos, Neymar, Akkari and Danzer. Well, it turns out that two of them are going to be in the Olympics. Neymar is an overage player (and Captain) on the Brazilian football team and now we hear that Akkari is going to be an Olympic torch-carrier, representing mind sports and eSports. How ridiculous, but good luck to him. By the looks of him, he won"t be carrying it far.

No events concluded overnight and none look likely to do so except #28 $10k Limit. Mercier might have a rival - Ian Johns, who won #8 $1.5k HORSE, is heads-up. Unlike Mercer, who gets his bracelets in 100-runner fields, Johns got his the hard way, in a massed field, where he had to beat Bonomo heads-up, after a final table that included Scotty and Akkari. He was 10th in this event last year and previously had a 1st and a 3rd in Limit, as well as various other cashes.

Phil Hellmuth"s mother and father are both having a shot at the Super Seniors. No news yet on their progress.

STAKER - WSOP #27 $1,000 Seniors No Limit Hold'em Championship
Staker          Stake          Winnings          Profit          Dann Williams          £696          £  1,393          £     697          Bill Sheppard          £696          £     715          £       19

Two events concluded and, amazingly, the same two stakers topped the results in both.

Pride of place goes to Bill, who put his whole Marbella stake on fifth-placed Milos Skrbic, despite Milos having very little by the way of previous results, and won £30k! Amazing picking, Bill. Dann profited by putting the lot on William Davies, who min-cashed but, at least, has some excellent previous results. Very good by both, but super-impressive by Bill to come up with Milos. Tom and Matthew made a profit from Neil Raine and Guy Taylor.

As I said, the same two were also best in #27 at the WSOP, Dann by picking John Gale and Bill by going with Neil Blumenfield, two guys I am not surprised to see in the cash.
