Online Championship Structure
Honeybadg:
... a bit different because you have a clock on every hand ...
In terms of structure as it is the game is bound to last 4 hours (ish) and end in a "crapshoot" ...
Blue Square $50k tournaments last 5 hours and end in a "crapshoot"
Betfair $100k about 7 hours ... (pretty crappy at the end)
It takes a pretty long structure to avoid this.
Up to 15 mins takes us to five hours.
20 mins to up 6 six hours and delays the "crapshoot"
I would be pretty happy playing to 2am on a Satuday night.
The other way to do it which might be good would be to roll the blinds back a level or two once you reach the final table.
Then you might see some poker on the final table.
I just watched a re-run of the Pokerstars Sunday Warm Up for Feb 8th - final table cards up(fascinating) and still a lot of poker being played.
Aside they did a deal with 6 left ... one guy who spiked a ten KT vs KJ ... just before netting an extra $87k ... nice!

I think on the the whole the structure was fine. Mimicing the national actually took out the 10/20 and 20/40 which I think we had last time?
I think if u make it 15 min levels it"d be just about right.

Yep agree 15 minutes would be great, but the idea off rolling back the blinds is also a good idea if this can be done? If so I would keep it as it is until final 2 tables then roll back 2 or 3 levels, is this possible?

It seemed a little bit fast last night after the first break but I think a part of it was to do with people playing pretty tight & sitting on their chips for the first hour. Like I said in the other thread though - I think 15 mins would make it perfect.
Every tourney is going to get a little crapshooty at some point. Plus I think there"s a lot of skill involved in GOOD short stacked play - i"d actually argue there"s more skill in short stack play a lot of time than the average person"s normal game with chips.
Yeah it gets a bit "crapshooty" but the same thing happens at every local casino and we deal with it.

15 minute blinds please. We all know that it will come to push or fold at some time, all tourneys do. But $55 is a pretty big buy in for me, well actually the biggest I pay, and I only pay it because its APAT, so I feel 15 min blinds will increase the time for more play. I couldn"t play the first one so didn"t realise the structure was so fast. The early play on my table wasn"t over tight, people were defo making moves, and the reason they do this more on line than live is simple. They fire up the lap top 5 mins before play and close it down when knocked out, instead of driving 2 and a half hours there and back! The big live tourneys are a day out and players want to enjoy the experience as well as do well.
