Poker League
The Healer:
Sunday night was my first appearance in the Poker League and it left me with mixed impressions. Firstly, I enjoyed the opportunity to play at tables without the Maniacs and Ace Happy Bandits, and the banter was of a good nature.
However, although I exited in 16th, it took me 3 hrs to get to that point. In a field of only 46 runners, I though it was an extraordinary running time. Although I never seen the end result, I imagine it went on for 4-5 hours. What happens if there is in excess of 100 runners ?, is it a 2 day event ?.
Is it possible that the format is the reason for the low turnout , or is this the norm ?.
These are merely observations, not criticisms, and I wonder if anyone else has views on this.
Honeybadg:
From memory in week 1 there were 86 runners in the North and it ran to about 1am.
Also from memory it was 10 minute Levels that might.
General comment was that it became a "crapshoot" at the end.
The slow format probably produces the fairest result - maybe it could be clipped back to 10 min levels??
Numbers may well increase as the summer passes.

The structure was tinkered with early season, and the format in place is spot on IMO. Okay its only a $10 tournamnet, but there is plenty of time for proper play, without resorting to Shove or fold poker after 90 minutes which it was previously. The reduced numbers are a result of some of the teams feeling "out of it" and also it is summer! For me I would play them any way, I really enjoy the APAT banter and the quality of play is pretty damn good. Where else can you sit down with a Sunday Warm Up runner up , a Gala champion, an APAT National winner, and an APAT on line winner for $10? You can do that in the Central Division or as we like to call it the premier league. ;)
AMRN:
if you want shovefest donkaments, then APAT is not the place for you.
however if you want good poker with a good structure, played by a great bunch of people, generally to a pretty high standard, all for just $11, then stick around.

Just what I was about to say ... TY Steve.
