live speech play and hand reading

(1/2) > >>

TopPair2Pair:
tis a tough topic for a live fish like me but wld like some opinions on this. I had A2s, opponent shoves heads up. I say out loud if u got an ace ur beating me... What signs are u guys looking for to call/fold? I"ve left this vague on purpose.

deanp27:
it doesn"t really matter, stack sizes do though. Live or online.

A2 doesn"t really have great equity here does it unless we are fairly short stacked.

unless you have history with the opponent i would take more notice of betting patterns etc than trying to get "live reads" - alot of the time they are over-rated.

there are things to be looking for but you have to see these "tells" on numerous occasions so you can take out that it is coincidence. You cant really rely on this on the one time you have spoke to him.

I think the bottom line is that even if he doesn"t have an ace you really are not that far ahead. If he has suited connectors for instance you really are not far off a coinflip

TopPair2Pair:
20K in play.. I was down to 2K at one point...got myself back up 5K.... and this hand happened. Speech play/reading isnt "any part" of my game but got me thinking....if that happens again what do i want... what do i not want to see.

(He was def shoving with A/K/Q/J x. Only scared of pairs and Ax in this sit, if he had sommin like 22-66 then gl to him...)

deanp27:
its not speech play that"s important, trying using pokerstove to work out your equity against his range of jamming hands.

still depends what the blinds are though. I take the flip if blinds are high probably

problem is that A2 is not huge against any hand and can be a big "dog. if he has 35s you aren"t streets ahead.
