was this correct ?

BOINGBLITZ:
Playing at the skypoker event in Luton last Saturday, I am in a hand when I make a raise and the guy on the button asks me how much I have got behind me ?
Now in this situation, I NEVER answer, although I will make sure the guy has full view of my chips if he wishes to count them.
What happened next surprised me. The dealer actually physically counted out my stack for him.Even though those chips were not yet across the line.
Is this correct ?? .......or was the dealer wrong to do so ??

LongshanksED:
Think the dealer can count as when you watch tv poker, people ask dealers for players chip counts regularly. As for physically touching them I don"t know but it would seem difficult if they weren"t allowed to!

I"m pretty sure that dealers aren"t allowed to count what"s in the pot in the middle though

duke3016:
When asked - answer straight away with a lie to suit the situation  ;D

Dont think you have to tell him how much you have behind,,,,as long as your chips are all on show,,large chips easily seen etc,,,and i thought the dealer only counts your chips if you are all in,,,that is when you hear the players ask for a count.I have done as you did many times and dont recall the dealer touching my chips

AMRN:
I think you"ve every right to find out exactly what a player has behind - and don"t think there"s anything wrong with the dealer couting the exact amount if asked.
