So, as you may have realised, I like to enjoy myself!! This usually involves lots of beer and/or lots of food, and with Christmas just a few weeks away I am very worried.
It has dawned on me that I have really piled the weight on over the last 6 months. This is probably due in part to my stopping smoking (over a year without touching one, TYVM) and general inactivity on my part.
It is easy to blame this on my dodgy knees, which Tbf ARE dodgy, but it is something that I use as an excuse far too often nowadays so that I can just sit on my backside!
I used to play football every week, and whilst I do still play cricket, standing at slip and bowling a few overs of leg spin is hardly pushing any boundaries!!
SO! I have decided that I need a challenge.
I am going to lose 4 stones in weight in a certain amount of time (any realistic suggestions welcome, I honestly have no clue how ling would be a challenge?) And I am going to complete a half marathon AND marathon next year, to raise money for Cerebral Palsy charities.
I was thinking about a penalty system where I pay £10 per lb I am away from reaching my target or something similar, and if others want to sponsor me too that would be awesome??
CP is a matter close to my heart, as my 4 year old nephew suffers from it. He was born 12 weeks premature and while he is able to crawl about happily, has never been able to walk due to problems with his legs.
I am sure I have bored you all to bits about him in the past, but he really is my hero, and I know that he would love nothing more than to take one step, never mind run, so for me to be as lazy as I have become is just ridiculous.
So! I will keep this updated once I start with how the weight loss is going and also how my running progresses.
GL fat lad!!

Good luck with this mate, great cause!
It took me 6 months to lose 2 stone in the run up to the wedding
For me :
I found it VERY tough, gym 4 times a week upto 4 hours at a time.. would recommend finding a gym partner with similar goals if possible to motivate on those days when you lose the will.
A healthy weight loss is supposedly 2 pounds a week.. so using maths that would be around 6-8 months. However it"s never that easy. You"ll lose a lot early days and then your body will adjust and it gets harder and harder to lose. I would say 4 stone possibly in 12 months but it"s a big ask mate. I know I couldn"t do it.
After a while, they"ll be weeks when you put weight on, never give up, its just your body adjusting.
Oh.. use decent scales as well, I used the old Wii fit which was spot on. Always weigh yourself at the same time every day, first thing probably the best.
Don"t fad diet.. losing weight is simple really. Burn more calories than you eat. Which means exercise and hard work.
I know you very well obv Stu and I know if you put your mind to it you can achieve this no problems. Have every faith mate and will support you in every way, if that means drinking your share of the beer I"m willing to put myself on the line ;)
Good luck mate. Much love x
