Look at it this way...

Player A is a Coventry local who can"t attend any other event for a number of reasons.

He fancies his chances of satelliting in and finishes just one place short to someone who isn"t going to attend.

He"s now in the position of having been "done" out of a cheap seat by someone who won"t even be going....does that seem fair?

Bloody Coventry players should pay better imo ;D

Also, if Carl hadn"t entered the Sat would not have made enough for the extra seat anyway. (hypothetically of course)  ;)

Only pulling your leg Paulie :)

On the subject though; and a serious suggestion.

Why don"t APAT set the resell seats at £85, the extra £2.50 going to APAT as commission? Seems fair to me.

Never thought about it until now, but feel that it might make more sense to have the cheaper one first.... might get more runners, then perhaps some of those come back on the following nights to play again.  As it stands, people may still go for the cheaper one, and swerve the expensive ones.... but if they miss out in the cheaper one, they have no further opportunity.

yip, that"s my point, would get more runners and more of them would be likely to play at least the next most expensive sat...well, i would be...and if i""ve played 2 i"d probably play the third just to try and save something on the entry...being scottish and therefore inherently miserable, avoiding the expensive ones unless i have to play them is the default mode :-)
seriously though, makes no sense to me why you"d have the dear one first, there must be some kind of logic to it but i don"t understand it....
Not that it matters but i"m fairly sure this isn"t the way it"s always been...

I prefer the dearest one first... The field is normally the smallest and if I was not in work I would have preferred to play tonight. My logic is to try the dearer one first and if you don"t qualify then a cheaper tourney is better than having to pay more for a second bite. I don"t normally try the rebuys and I won"t be able to this week as I will be working again. So it looks like tomorrow will be a determined effort to get a seat...

FWIW I think it was an ok structure for a satellite and played out quite well compared to certain previous sponsors" sites.

Will be trying again tomorrow.

btw - the £5 /$5 rebuy is not necessarily the cheapest.... ask Ger  8)

I agree with Captain Slow  ;D

The biggest ratio of players to seats is in the 20 f/o. The task gets tougher during the week but cheaper too (although the rebuy can get expensive lol). Prefer to set aside 1 evening rather than 3, but if I fail on the first there"s the "cheaper" options if I"m determined to get in. The other way around it would usually take more than 1 shot and I don"t like it getting dearer to do it. Each to their own I guess.

Would be interested to know why the satellite offered £80 seats when the cost of the event is £82.50? Presume APAT is taking a hit on the newly introduced fee?

APAT don"t take random bits!

William Hill have made a mistake in setup and I"ve written to them asking them to honour the tenth seat; if they don"t APAT will pay the difference.  But above all, WH need to ensure the mistake is not repeated tomorrow evening.
