lol actually not a West Ham fan, just not convinced by Carrick, just dont notice him either tackling back or going forward admittedly in a team of excellent players, maybe thats Scott Parkers advantage that he shines in a team of mediocre players, doesnt really matter who go"s as they will only bit part anyways

meh last night made my mind up as to what i"d like the starting eleven to be...

my starting 11 [4141 formation]
GK Joe Hart - in-experienced but imho has come on tons this past year , and Green and James do not inspire me  :)
LB A.Cole
CB Ferdinand
CB Terry
RB G.Johnson
LM A.Johnson - again in-experienced but well worth taking a shot
CM L.King - in a holding role , if his knees give way then Barry can slot in
CM Lampard
CM Gerrard - please please Mr Capello don"t stick him out on the left..
RM A.Lennon
FW Rooney

It"s great how England, with one remaining friendly, haven"t really got a Plan A.

England"s 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup finals:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham).

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Michael Dawson (Tottenham), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa).

Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Aston Villa), Scott Parker (West Ham), Theo Walcott (****nal), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City).
Forwards: Darren Bent (Sunderland), Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).

Other opinions?

Baines / Warnock..Coin flip...both reserves and both crap.
SWP vs Walcott....My opinion big mistake...what does SWP do that theo can"t.
Bent vs Heskey....Pass!

But now what formation to start with..........If Barry is in....he must then prefer SG behind Rooney....which would be great..

James or Hart
Johnson / Terry / Rio / Cole (a)
Barry
Lennon / Lampard / Cole
Gerrard
Rooney

Quite the contrary, i think his selection shows that he is going to stick with 4-4-2. Taking too many strikers and not enough wingers. Quite obv that he is farming Gerrard on the left, poss just roaming while the real width will come from Lennon on the right. Crouch and Rooney up top. Still wouldn"t know who would be no1 yet. I would have taken Adam Johnson, purely for the left foot option SWP and Lennon are the same player for me. I still can"t believe nobody has worked out that Walcott is a striker and not a winger, he would terrorise defenders playing on the shoulder as he did at Southampton in his very young days.

All in all a very safe selection from Capello, going against what he said when he first came into the job, a few players there on reputation and club stature ( Carrick springs to mind ) rather than actual form.

A 1-11 would be rare.

I"m pretty sure Barry will start, if fit, in place of Cole (J).

If he isn"t fit then I agree with that team. I can see the media going to town on the whole "Lampard Gerrard" thing if this team doesn"t do well against the septics!!

I believe Barry was passed fit for the World Cup.... not the 1st game...he won"t be match fit for a start..so i think it"ll be game 2 before we see what is perceived as plan a.
