Kindle Fire HD or Nexus 10, which one is value for money?

The current generation (AFAIK) of all of these are wi-fi only so browsing could be an issue abroad (unless you have wi-fi of course).
Ideally, I suppose what I am looking for is a giant 10" smartphone (without the phone) I can lob a foreign sim in for anytime-anywhere browsing while sitting at a poker table in Vegas.

This is the biggest drawback I can find for the Fire, you need Wi-Fi. However for the Mrs, (which would me mainly used at home) this is not a problem and if used abroad then fingers cross that they have free Wi-Fi.
