APAT PREMIER LEAGUE KICKS OFF WITH A BOING BOING

The latest APAT Premier League got underway last night with 34 teams registered for the 8 week long online league.  The teams will battle it out on Grosvenor Poker Online for 7 matchdays on a Sunday night during November 2017 – January 2018, with the top teams from the four conferences then playing for over £4,000 of live tournament seats in the Grand Final at the end of January 2018.

The first week was always going to be hectic, with last minute team registrations and players getting used to the new format that sees their teams play a ‘match’ each week against another team from their conference.  All players register in one MTT with 100% of the prizepool paid out on the night to the top players.  Play starts at 7pm, with 60 minutes late registration, and the 5k starting stack on a 10 minute clock ensures everything is normally wrapped up around midnight, perfect for those recreational players with an early start on a Monday morning.

Once team registration was closed, the draw was made for the four conferences :-

FPG TEAM 2 DOMINATE IN THE CLUB CONFERENCE

Clearly being Team 2 from the Frome Poker Group did not put the team off, as they managed to get 3 players onto the final two tables, with ‘Aces_n_8’s’ finishing in 4th spot.  That was enough to secure a 179-96 victory over Team Gotham, who skippered by WCOAP England Captain Simon ‘DJBigClub’ Brooke, were unfortunate to run into a team in form as 96pts would have seen them beat the majority of the Club Conference on the night.

There were also wins for UTFB Dragons, Trump Cards, ACE Poker League, and The Leftovers, a team that was put together from individuals looking for a team via the Facebook Group.

HITSQUAD MAJORS ROMP TO THE TOP OF THE DIAMOND CONFERENCE WITH HOT TUB SHENANNIGANS

Hitsquad Majors and Hot Tub Shenannigans both scored impressive wins with over 140 points each to take the lead in the Diamond Conference. It was a tough night for Deez Nuts and Punters Lounge Poker Club who failed to score a point, but there’s a long way to go with this being the first of seven matchdays.

The Cream Of LBPN and Yorkshire White Rose’s also picked up a win.

BUILDING CHIPSTACKS WITH BIG POTATOES IN THE HEART CONFERENCE

Big Potatoes secured a matchday 1 win with two players making the final table.  Karen ‘Babloos’ Balbi skippered the side to victory and secured a 2nd place finish for herself in the process.

This conference also saw the winner of match day 1, as Brian “BOINGBLITZBCPC’ Yates took down the win and ensured a 105-44 win for his Black Country Poker Club over the reigning Premier League Champions, Quad Jokers.

Sh*t Detectives and Team Spawn completed the victories in what is already being described as the ‘Conference of Death’.

FTPD HANG ON FOR VICTORY IN THE SPADE CONFERENCE

In the closest game of the night, FPTD secured a 47-44 victory over Degens Late Arrivals.  It was a low scoring first matchday for the Spade Conference, with wins for ColdstreamPKR, Crouching lady Hidden Beever and The Chips Don’t Lie – Shakira Shakira.
