Marie Sherwood - 888poker APAT European Amateur Champion
APAT held the 888poker European Amateur Championship at the Rendezvous Casino, Brighton over the weekend of 21st-22nd January. This is the final event of APAT’s successful fifth season of live events, where for a £75 buy in players receive a 10,000 starting stack and 45 minute clock two day tournament.
The early chip leader was Julian Brooker, all-in with set under set on the flop he rivered Quads to knock out Robyn Houlford. Regular APAT players Vikrum Mehta and Ben Burnhill both moved to the head of affairs during the day but the chip leader by the end was James Barber.
Barber was helped by raising with Kings, being called by Steve Jay in position. The flop came Jack-Jack-Seven. Barber bet and Jay moved all in. Barber eventually called, and was comfortably ahead of Eight-Seven suited. Kings held and Barber did not relinquish his lead for the rest of the day.

APAT hosted the 888poker United Kingdom Open at the G Casino, Manchester over the weekend of 3rd-4th December. With a £100 buy in and a 10,000 starting stack, 45 minute clock tournament, the 119 runners created a £11,900 prize pool including added value of a tournament entry from APAT to the winner.
Play in the early stages was fast and furious and players sought to build their stacks early. Zhang Yangran and John Anderson were way out at the head of affairs from the mid levels of the day, both amassing impressive stacks over double that of their nearest competitiors. Craig Dawson was their nearest challenger, playing consistently throughout a day that saw fewer players return for the second day than normal.

The Amateur Poker Association & Tour held its first event in the United States with the APAT North American Amateur Championship, which was held at Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas on 19th & 20th November 2011.
Early play was brisk with chip leader Don Logan accounted for several opponents in the first three levels, before he was joined by Jeldon Fernandes at the head of affairs. Indeed throughout the day, with only the exceptions of Robert McMillan (Arizona) and Michael Murphy (Oregon) play was largely dominated by the fifty one APAT members who travelled from the United Kingdom and Ireland to the tournament.
In the mid-levels, former APAT World Championship of Amateur Poker HORSE Champion Andrew Tracey became chip leader, before he lost some ground late on doubling up Colin Wilson and Dawn Dineen, putting them both in contention.
Meanwhile Jack Prime and Glenn Laming clashed on several occasions, Prime eventually being in the ascendancy as Laming exited near the end of day one’s play.
Scotsman Neil Dawson moved through the gears and doubled up near the end through Jeldon Fernandes to end a fast and furious day’s play as the chip leader.

The APAT United Kingdom Team Championships was held at the G Casino and featured a sold out field of twenty three teams of eight players each drawn from some of the largest UK poker communities who were once again treated to a 10,000 starting stack, 45 minute clock tournament in keeping with APAT’s aim to bring affordable deepstack poker to recreational players.
The 184 runners created a £9,200 prize pool,half going to the top three teams (points scored for the top 50 finishers) and half to the top individual finishers. Once again APAT provided added value with a UKIPT seat to the individual winner of the Championship.
As expected play was extremely competitive throughout with the best performing teams in early play Hetton Social League, Hendon Mob and blonde Poker: All three did not lose a player until well into day one play.
In the last level, Rob Swindells who had been near the head of affairs all day, won a big pot against Alan Lake of Black Belt Poker, pocket Queens against pocket Tens to move into a dominating position.
